Old Man's Corners

11 here feel like 0.......⛄⛄
Same, here in NE Oklahoma.

This Friday, forecast 4-6" of snow, single digits with a wind-chill of -8°F about the time I will be outside working.

Will be amusing to watch a trucker or two, still wearing shorts, muttering to me, "Left Texas this morning, it was 52°F!"

Dream scenario.
IU coach Cignetti becomes Raiders HC.
With the 1st pick in the draft Raiders take IU QB Fernando Mendoza.

Raiders and Jets are where QBs and coaches go to die. Raiders need a cht load of help they need a whole offensive line and a #1 and #2 WR. Mendoza is less mobile than Hebert so Mendoza would pretty much get killed with current Raider offensive line.

In a perfect NFL world Mendoza would go to Dolphins where they have receivers and an ok offensive line and would need an offensive minded head coach so that he doesn't have to go through a carousel of offensive coordinators every two years. Lions offense took a major step back because of Johnson leaving for the Bears.

LOL! Forecast gets worse 12 hours later. Need to plan on shutting the water off and bleed the lines Friday. Hopefully, can turn the water back on next Tuesday.

Negative 18°F wind-chill Saturday morning.

LOL! Get asked all the time how I can work the night shift.

Big winter storm coming this way, starting Friday morning. Forecast keeps shifting - from bad to worse. Now up to a foot of snow expected, pipes bursting deep freeze for a few days.

Tulsa news stations asking people to get prepared.

Getting my final preps in. Fully cooked 8 pounds of ground beef early this morning, plus two quarts of homemade chili. Dough prepped for seven homemade pizzas. Think I will have another pizza tonight.

Plenty of water on hand for cleaning and flushing.

Will be at work overnight this weekend, likely to hear some horror stories from truckers.

Forecasts for Friday and Saturday is rain for the PHX metro area. If that is the case, then I'll unlikely skip an outdoor event on Saturday. Have already "enjoyed" that 3 times in the past two months along with gale force winds both Saturday and Sunday two weeks ago.

If it rains there, then we will likely see snow where we are at.

Will be watching the weather for Oklahoma City where I-40 and I-35 intersect. A foot of snow there, the interstates will come to a crawl. My truck stop will be overflowing with trucks stopping for the night, weekend?

Shutting off my water. Can take a shower at work if I need one. Have a large package of Dude Wipes if I need to freshen up.

The hardest part will be getting through the extreme cold. Most older homes around here were quickly built with no insulation a hundred years ago by men seeking to strike it rich.

Tulsa, at one time, was the oil capital of the world.
