How The Car 8-Track Player Revolutionized Music Listening

I don't think I am too young for the 8 Tracks but I don't remember ever using them or even seeing them! They kind of look like the good old mechanical hard drives of computers!
But there were the cassette where the tape would sometimes get wound inside the cassettes, or, worse, inside cassette player itself. Then you'd use your fingers or forceps to take them out. Happened all the time especially with some kinks on the tap from prolonged usage.
But speaking of the 8 Tracks, recently I had to digitize some 8 mm tapes from 30+ years ago, and of, course, I had gotten rid of my 8 mm camcorder decades ago. AND I also had to digitize some 90s VHS tapes. I did have a VCR so that, along with a cheap USB gadget from Amazon, would solve the VHS tapes but I wasn't going to buy some camcorder just for the 8 mm tapes! So I advertised in a local community site and, lo and behold, a very old and lonely man contacted me and offered to lend me his camcorder; he wasn't going to take any money for the rental! He didn't even know he had the camcorder in his house. Haha! So I borrowed the camcorder, used the Amazon gadget, digitized the 8 mm tapes as well.

So memories from decades ago digitized and preserved! And you don't know how appreciative the oldies in my circle have been to me to have held onto the precious memories from 30+ years ago!! But I had preserved for my own sake!

I think by 1976 they were dead. Certainly the 1979 Sony Walkman was the last nail in the coffin for the 8-track. People made custom tapes and could carry them around. 8-tracks got tossed in the bin as being useless.

So my brother is currently digitizing all the slides/films/polaroids my parents took in the 1960s/1970s.

Any recommendations?

I just keep buying new technology. Donated my LPs. Bought CDs and now just listen to Spotify. It's much more easier this way.

Skipped the cassette era too.

Did buy an old hippy's reel to reel tapes and player in the early 80s.

1) For old printed pics / polaroid: Just use a scanner. I bought a new scanner / printer/ copier some months ago after stupidly being cheap and continued to use a very old scanner which scanned really badly. For scanner software, simply use 'Scanner' software available in Windows Store on PCs. It is a WIFI scanner/printer and we love it!! I could share the link if needed.
2) For the VHS and the 8 mm tapes, use a VCR and 8 mm camcorder respectively. They should have the RCA output ports and there is a cheap USB adapter (I can't find it on Amazon right now) which accepts RCA signal for video/audio and plugs into PCs USB port; the driver software comes with the adapter.

3) #2: I found 'OBS Studio' to be a good, free software to recognize the external signal from the USB device and record on your PC.

Oh, related to this topic: For my university graduation here in America in 1993!!! , I had given my camcorder to a fellow student to record me graduating while he was in audience. I had even placed him in a good position. But, during the almost hour long recording, he focused on the wrong person, thinking that was me! Well, we had not known each other long till then. But he did record some of me and I cropped out the rest. Haha!!

Really enjoyed three hours of Santana too.

Over 50 pre-recorded reels.

Well I have to record my daughter's swim meets and with everybody wearing black suits, goggles, and white caps you can't tell one from the other from up in the stands.

Especially with my 20x20 vision now 20,000,000x20,000,000

Meanwhile my kids can see a black cat a mile away on a moonless night.

If you have the prints, then scan in high resolution and then zoom and crop out the other parts.

This video will give you a real 70s experience with reel to reel tapes.

Noticed my yellow cat disappeared. Walked over to the courthouse and saw the Sheriff and Trippy starring at each other.

Whistled, Trippy ran to me.

On our way home, Sheriff drove around to watch us.

LMAO! My cat punked out the county sheriff!

Walked to the Family Dollar store to buy two beers. Manager is a high ranking Mason.

Told him the cops here in Nowata are badge fags.

He laughed.

Mason Lodge member doesn't know why the badge fag who used to live next door to me shot his sorry ass in the head last fall.

I was under extreme surveillance. Said **** it, and began playing gay porn.

LOL! Badge fag next door was up late at night regularly listening and watching....

One day he yelled at me that I like sucking n.... d...

I laughed.

He ended up shooting his badge fag ass in the head. LOL!

Instead of complaining about my rights he doesn't respect, I played gay porn on my phone, that I put close to his surveillance.

LMAO! Watching him up late at night in his bedroom nextdoor.

**** The Police

Last night a mother of three was pulled over. Her vehicle was impounded.

She didn't have proof of insurance on her. She was legal. Just didn't have her papers on her.

LOL! Waiting for the badge fag to show his sorry ass up at my truck stop. LOL!

(For those outside "the know") You have to be on the ball and put the year sticker on your license plate or that is going to happen.

I had mine towed away for that once. Infact my current one is peeling off because it is stuck over like 15 others.
