Just in, Tarik Skubal will miss the next two months for elbow surgery.

Tarik Skubal will miss Monday’s start against the Red Sox — and then some.

The Tigers ace will undergo surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow, manager A.J. Hinch revealed ahead of the first game of the series in Detroit.

Skubal’s time away could look to be at least two months, though there is no official timetable yet.

The
DET
Detroit Tigers have surged to the top of the 2026 MLB injury tracker with a severity score of 106, the highest in baseball and a significant jump from previous updates. With 32 players on the injured list and 13 on the 60-Day IL, Detroit is dealing with the most severe long-term roster damage of any team. Jackson Jobe, the club's most prized pitching prospect, remains on the 60-Day IL with an elbow injury. Reese Olson and Beau Brieske are also out long-term, and veteran Justin Verlander continues to manage a hip issue. The Tigers' rotation depth has been stripped to the bone.

Big loss 📉

Tarik Skubal was scheduled to pitch tonight. Yes, losing the best pitcher in baseball 2-3 months for elbow surgery is a big loss.

Pitching chaos, works until it doesn't.

I hate when they do this. I think by the end of the month they'll be in 3rd place and barely 500. The offence was never good they just had a moment from our highly paid hitters of what they used to be while at the same time the no-names position players were also having a moment of offense but now they aint hitting and it has manifested these past 7 games. We're in May and Tatis hasn't sniffed a HR yet. Only reason he has gotten away with that is because he's been a gold glover right fielder and now 2nd basemen.

You may remember that scare I had back in early January where I thought it was a gall bladder attack but it turned out to be only "beyond next level" indigestion.

Well, since then, I've been taking a (near) daily regimen of a 1/4-cup of apple cider vinegar mixed with a cup of apple juice and a cup of water. It sounds disgusting but I've gotten used to the taste. And, oddly, I've been feeling quite well. Not an attack since starting that routine not to mention it seems to be helping with maintaining weight.
