So you've been aware I've been offline a few days. Busy with a couple projects not to mention LLWS games. Called all 4 games correctly. Buddy of mine was calling for Puerto Rico to win but I knew the Mexican kids would pull through. And they did. 1st baseman hit a grand slam and then inning or 2 later at his next at-bat hit a 2-run homer.

Taiwan and Japan games coming up.

You know I can’t say I’ve been very lucky with “freebies” during my life. it seems everybody else gets that “oh you have got to be kidding” kind of luck.

Well somebody got a free upgrade for “just for one night” to a hotel suite with a balcony view of the ocean and beach.

I slept outside on it because the temp was nicer than inside due to the A/C being too weak to cool down the suite as apparently nobody had been in it for a while.

It’s 7am and I’m on an outdoor couch.

Of course now that I open my mouth somebody has decided to start blasting music from their little balcony somewhere.

When the sun goes down, think I can get four cats to follow me around the block.

Been playing with these two.
Called off and put Trippy in the house. One kitten will have a new home first thing Monday morning.

Hormones. Trippy has it really bad.

And that's why he is the alpha cat in town.

Ask the bellman for ear plugs.

I had ChatGPT create a cheat sheet on how to get a room upgrade using my circumstances (got upgraded to a room at least 5X the price of what I paid)

🛎️ Hotel Room Upgrade Cheat Sheet

“How to Increase Your Chances of a Free Upgrade Without Being Pushy”

✅ 1. Book the Most Popular (Basic) Room Type
  • Choose the standard or entry-level room — these are most likely to be overbooked.
  • Avoid suites or niche room types unless you’re paying for them.

💳 2. Prepay Your Reservation (Even if It’s Refundable)
  • Prepaid guests are more “locked in” — hotels are obligated to honor or upgrade.
  • Avoid “pay at property” when possible — those guests are lowest priority.
🕓 3. Choose a Slightly Earlier Check-In Time — But Arrive Later
  • Select 1–2 PM check-in when booking.
  • Arrive between 5–7 PM, when early arrivals have already checked in and overbooked rooms are being reassigned.
  • Avoid arriving too late (after 9–10 PM), unless you’ve told the hotel.

🎒4. Don’t Confirm Delays — Let the Hotel Guess
  • If you’re arriving late but still within check-in hours, don’t alert the hotel unless absolutely necessary.
  • This increases the odds they’ll release your original room if they’re overbooked.
🧍‍♂️5. Be Friendly, Calm, and Respectful at Check-In
  • No demands. Just a warm, low-key arrival.
  • A line like:
“I know it’s a busy day — happy to take anything available.”

So basically I showed up close to 6PM because i had changed my earlier landing airline flight to a later landing one due to a scheduling conflict. I had told my hotel of the earlier flight but didn’t alert them I had changed it to a later one…which kicked off an interesting chain of events.

Even though I was prepaid they figured I was a no-show…so they sold my room. When I showed up at 6pm the clerk realized they f*cked-up and desperately searched for an alternative…which happened to be one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel that nobody had taken due to its high price.

To say I got a “super-size” me upgrade is an understatement. I got a holy sh*t WTF type upgrade.

Lightyears better than the ones YouTubers show. I think it was redone.
