Looks like TTP successfully scuttled the Pakistan Taliban talks that were being mediated by Saudi Arabia. The cavemen have better strategies than jernails.
so Army should conduct talks. TTP then abandons talks and blows shit up. Masterstroke from TTP and incompetence from the army...?????

Army was talking to the Taliban about restraining the TTP and BLA. These talks were being mediated by Saudi Arabia. In response the TTP and BLA launched attacks inside Pakistan, including at a masjid near the capital, forcing a Pakistani response in Afghanistan that spoils the talks and keeps Army and Taliban at loggerheads. That suits the TTP and BLA.

yeah doubt Taliban care unless Pakistan hit their leadership and burn down Kabul

So, they bombed Afghanistan because a high-ranking officer was martyred yesterday (Lt. Col. Shahzada Gul Faraz). It is becoming a pattern, I guess, since we bombed Afghanistan after that Orakzai ambush in which Lt. Col. Junaid Tariq? was martyred along with 11–13 other soldiers.

If we look at it from a common soldier's perspective, what exactly do we see? The military will only take action if a high-ranking officer has been martyred, otherwise, they don't give a f*ck. A morale decreasing factor? I mean when retaliation follows the death of a senior officer, it can surely create the perception that rank determines response.
