I think objective was to do something to satisfy domestic demands but not attack in such a manner to completely scuttle the dialogue with Taliban that is being mediated by Saudi Arabia.

Those talks however aren't going too well either because foremost Taliban demand is recognition from Pakistan, else they will do nothing about TTP/BLA.

But, boy, what a 'culture' the Afghan Pashtuns and some of their counterparts in Pakistan have: Literally blowing themselves up for some $$. Even during the sickest, cruelest phase in Iraq following the 2003 war, they at least had some nationalistic rationale for suicide bombing.
Here.. what's the going rate: $400 or $600 per month for a suicide bomber??
