The fact that the TTA/TTP felt confident to launch an attack on 53 locations along the border just highlights how piss poor Pakistan's policy and strategy towards the TTA/TTP has been. They did not feel deterred at all, because Pakistan historically would do a "befitting response" for a few hours and then go home for tea and biscuits.

I hope the approach changes and the operation is sustained for some time and a real cost is imposed on them now so that they start to feel "deterred".

Try to discern between propaganda and reality.

Afghans have said they have conquered Islamabad and they have set the Lahore port on fire yet again. Claiming attacks on 53 posts (might as well make them 153) has to bee seen in light of the serious reverses they are suffering everywhere. Pakistan is responding with an overmatched response in pretty much every fire-fight and all the Taliban can do is put out propaganda for local consumption because they cannot hang in the fight.

They are getting deterred now because up until now, Pakistan had kept its actions limited to TTA. Second, this is not going to get solved in just a couple of rounds. This will take protracted action from Pakistan delivering a heavy cost to TTA over a period of time.

They can increase their terrorism inside Pakistan but they are no longer immune to damage and losses.

No a single KPK based political party has outrightly supported the strikes. That includes JUI/JI/ANP. The support has come from PML-N (Punjab), PPP (Sindh) and MQM (Karachi)

The response in KPK varies from calling for peace to some nationalists suporting Afghanistan.

PTI is the only national party with support within the KPK youth.

PMLN/PPP/ISPR hold zero traction there.

Afghanistan and India would want to frame it as an Afghan/Punjabi issue. The fau--jeeti and Patwari push to frame PTI as anti-national is going to hurt the federation in the coming years.

ISPR has no traction in KPK ? Usual nonsense from a certain section as always. Not a single person I know from KPK that I have spoken to since yesterday opposed what Pakistan army is doing. But they all have very very unspeakable phrases for the Afghans.

Who do you think is fighting the Afghans at the border ? Punjab and Sindh's soldiers ? No, they are all overwhelmingly the locals of KPK. Stop projecting Social Media narratives onto ground realities. Yes people of KPK might vote for IK but that has nothing to do with their attachment to the army. At most we have a bunch illegal Afghans or sections in the the ex-FATA areas who associate with Afghanistan and bark against Pakistan and promote terrorism while sitting in Pakistan.
