Afghans will 'defend their beloved homeland' - former president Karzai

BBC

Hamid Karzai, who served as president of Afghanistan from 2002 to 2014, released a statement earlier today responding to Pakistani strikes on Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia.

"The Afghans will defend their beloved homeland with complete unity in all circumstances and will respond to aggression with courage," he wrote on X.

Pakistan "must change its own policy and choose the path of good neighborliness, respect, and civilized relations with Afghanistan", he wrote.

Karzai is one of the few senior Afghan politicians to remain in the country since the Taliban takeover in 2021.

What impact ? If you keep the borders close , don't allow the refugees in and no trade , I don't see how it impacts our security any worse than it's right now as far as terrorism is concerned
All of that is already being done. They still brainwash Pakistani Pakhtuns, Punjabis, send them across the porous border even with all of the above measures. With no one to talk to, Afghanistan will resemble the 90s. No-man's land. I agree that it won't be any worse or perhaps a little worse, but it's the duration of it that gives one pause. We want to get out of this situation within the next year or so and not have it linger for years with no governance there.

Seriously, i'm trying to understand the sitiation.
From news in Turkey, it sounds like Pakistan blames Taliban for supporting terrorism in Pakistan. Taliban says they are not supporting. So, war brokes out.

There should be specific demands on Afganistan, what are they?
Yes they say God gave them Pakistanis and they want to enslave the people

Its pretty similar mind to Israel

Pakistani strikes on government facilities is significant development - expert

BBC

Michael Kugelman speaking at the camera

What makes the latest round of Pakistani strikes significant is that they have targeted Taliban government facilities instead of terrorist targets in Afghanistan, Michael Kugelman, a senior fellow for South Asia at the Atlantic Council, told the BBC's Newsday programme.

This means "it's now targeting the regime itself", he said.

Pakistan claims that the Afghan Taliban is harbouring terrorists to stage attacks on Pakistan. While there have been diplomatic steps taken to ease the tensions, they have not led to a lasting solution.

Meanwhile rhetoric from the Taliban suggests it is committed to "staging relentless attacks" on the Pakistani side of the border, he said, adding that this was a "precarious situation" which could lead to an actual conflict.

Xenophobia off the charts.
I recall that Murdar Khor Kuni Manzoor Pashteen threathening the "Punjabi army" that he will skin them this time unlike allegedly taking their pants off which a claim made by his boyfriends in India and in Pakistan belonging to a certain disgruntled party.

I must be hurting the feelings of many who see Taliban as their brothers and hate "punjabi army oppression" against their brothern but feelings will have to take a back seat the Afghan Taliban made a fool of Imran Khan and his good intentions and GHQ back then played along.. the result is that the Taliban used this time to conolidate reorganise and equip their TTP boyfriends with American weapons. so its payback time

I amsure when Imran Khan comes back to power ( and he will due to his legit support, its not unthinkable) he will treat Taliban just like he treated Qasim Omar... (anyone remembers him? I doubt it)

did india accept taliban government than? that is not the issue the issue with TTA is that when they were fighting against US and allied the TTP also helped them in it now they are stick to the TTP and are not doing operation against them.
Fair point. I do think the TTP/BLA are not some sacred cows that the Taliban cannot sacrifice in exchange for recognition from Pakistan and assurances it will not meddle anymore in Afghanistan.

No matter how hard faujis try, noone is going to forget that Army is father of Taliban while mullah is mother of Taliban. Afghan Taliban made a complete fool of GHQ only, and twice.

Its why whole world is telling Army "App ko aap kai Taliban mubarak houn".
