I still maintain my original analysis from years ago that even in a direct war, the Afghan Taliban won't concede to Pakistan's demands, because the tribalist caveman-ish mentality is very suicidal, they've got nothing to lose except a strong sense of racial supremacy beliefs.
So eventually, if not now, another component of our strategy will have to be a successful Northern insurgency that can choke their strongholds and territories from the North.
This will mirror similar to Turkey's handling of PKK splinter groups.
