Plenty of acts Pakistan has done as well in that same line.
However, instead of looking at the Islamic angle to it - take it purely from a ethnic/nations standpoint that Afghans hate everything east of them that seems to equate to them and they consider Islam as their fiefdom.
As far as how twisted they can go - ANA officers on training in Europe and elsewhere would consume pork while other halal options were available and when asked why they would say it is not a muslim country so those constraints don’t apply here.
For that matter Ive seen Pakistanis do it under some justification, and Ikhwan do it as well… one of my funniest memories is touring paris - going to take a picture with Moulin Rouge(the famous cabaret/brothel featured in the Nicole Kidman movie) in pigelle(red light area) and having pushers for strip clubs and other places come to you - so as I kept saying no , not interested- one guy said
“Are you Arab? We have halal food!”
If you can understand the irony of brothels offering halal food…
That is all you need to know why Afghans(and many other nationalities) do what they do.
