Someone had written earlier that revenge is a dish best served cold. I suspect the Iranians have also seen that movie.

Hoping for the best but sadly, in this region, that is usually unrealistic.
Let's hope that saner heads prevail.

Iranians trying to defuse the situation by acknowledging presence of non-Iranians(terrorists) within their borders. It also could serve to preempt a public uproar for 'revenge'.....
It's face saving for the sepoys who were caught with their patloons down yet again...how many entities either state level or non-state actors have managed to just barge in take territory, kill both pakistani civilians and soldiers, conducted raids, kidnapped people and gotten away with it? Too many to even acknowledge without being overcome with extreme shame and embarrassment.

If anything Iranis are giving sepoys a way out, after all diesel smuggling has to continue...

I wouldn't call it deep strike. Saravan is like 50KM from Pakistan border. REKs were deployed from within Pak airspace. ISR drones may have gone in to confirm and provide post strike assessment.

Iran left us no choice. We had to prove that we are not a Syria/Iraq which any foreign power can enter and behave like its the wild west. Or strike back and maintain deterrence.

Now let's hope that the diplomats can sort this mess out and we can resort to being equal brothers.
