29 May 1989
A team of SSG paratroopers jumped out of a helicopter over Army Aviation School Rahwali, Gujranwala.
The team was led by Commandant SSG, a man whose name was just another name for SSG, a man whose image in eyes of my generation is forever the man who carried the Pakistan flag during free fall display at 23 March parade, the man whose jump suite always had "Ya Allah" written over it. He was Brig Tariq Mahmood or as ppl called him Brig TM to friends he was TM Shah (Takkar Marr Shah).
But that day fate had something else planned rather than the usual beautiful freefall with a picture perfect landing at the designated marker.
Brig TM's main and also his reserve parachutes didn't open and TM died doing what he loved doing i.e. wearing the SSG insignia, leading his men and during a free fall.
4 FF part of 205 Bde under Brig Tajammal Hussain Malik. 4 FF was tasked with the defence of Hilli, C Coy led by PA-6381 Maj Akram was ordered to advance from area Chorkai, clear area up to Raibagh & to push the enemy back.
C Coy after pushing back the enemy into its own territory hurled back one assault after another & each attack was repulsed summarily and bloodily.
Maj Akram an Alamgirian (College #1811), after having destroyed three tanks & while attempting to engage a 4th tank with a 40mm rocket launcher, was shot through his eye and throat by a .50 bullet.
He was awarded the highest award Nishan e Haider.
Maj Akram was laid to rest at the South Bogra Graveyard opposite to the Civil Defence & Fire Station.

Capt Ajmal Khan Shaheed 119L/C 5SR,
his last picture before shahadat
When he was deployed in Ops area at Tirrah, he said to his Commanding Officer, سر میں زیادہ دیر انتظار نہیں کر سکتا کہ ان کے ناپاک قدموں کی آہٹ سے میری مائیں اور بچے چین سے نا سوئیں"
He completed his task within two days, on 2nd day when he was leading from front with his company, he opened the door of a hideout of terrorists, as he opened it, an IED blast exploded and he embraced shahadat
Today's 17th Shahadat Anniversary of Lt Faiz Sultan Malik Shaheed Sitara_e_Basalat (115 L/C)
He took 22 Bullets on his Chest Including one from 12.7 Caliber Heavy Machine Gun. He led his men with exemplary courage,& eliminated 35 terrorists. He has got the control of two mountains named Zaray Sar and Sur Qammar.
He had packed his backpack with eight additional magazines of ammunition and six hand grenades. His body remained laying on the mountain slope for two days due to intense fighting with the terrorists.
He has written an article just at the age of fifteen named; LAHOO KI ROSHNI in the Alamgirian Magazine of Military College Jehlam.
He was already so conformed about his shahadat that he told his N.C.B (Betman) before going to operation, ''Convey my message to my Parents that I Will Embrace Shahadat in this operation SHER DIL''.
He has left a beautiful text message for his Mother'' I left home in khaki and came back in sabz hilali ....I Hav lost nothing but got everything that i Desired''.
