I had though that PAF already has this for the Erieye and F16s to communicate natively ?

$686m is too small of an amount to expect a major upgrade especially in terms of radars and FBW systems.
Guess it has something to do with comms only.

That’s what I was thinking. Investing half a billion on F-16s means that PAF is still seriously pursuing upgrades on F-16s and this upgrade isn’t the cap of them.
