THINK TANK: CONSULTANT
Q-5 was the first PLAAF aircraft and had a crude but important nuclear delivery role for them, with an internal weapon bay that in export variants was used for additional fuel tanks. And they also did another brilliant move. They removed critical instruments in the A-5 cockpit so they could buy two more aircraft.
It was the ultimate widowmaker of its time in PAF's service.
As far as regarding the A-10, agreed it didn't meet anything at all for what the F-16 was providing at the time.
Wonder if those instruments were related to that? Doesn't surprise me though. Read somewhere that PAF lost Falco UAVs too in the initial years as they didn't buy the recommended amounts of support equipment.
