PAF F-16 | Discussions

Man, I thought it was the indians who never learn, but Pakistanis are in a league of their own. I hope there's enough demand for soybeans in Pakistan in a few years time.

I would agree, but that was when all our eggs were in one basket with regards to high end weapons, not the case now. US kit is "nice to have" , not "must have" and I would argue any derailining of defence procurement this time would piss off the Saudis too.

PAF CAS and COAS lived through two bouts of US sanctions, we need to give them som credit here....

i know its childish talk, if we upgrade our mlu and biy 36 new f 16v with saudi support and also increase strength of j 10c then we are very much comfortable on east or west .

as i understand it, this may not necessarily be an order, rather, a precursor to an order, especially due to the timelines for this contract.

Because, the initial contract, was for the following:

This contract involves unclassified Foreign Military Sales to Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom, which accounts for approximately 39% of the contract value. these were the pre modificaton countries

Then modification P00026 added the following states
Australia
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Israel
  • Kuwait
  • Lithuania
  • Oman
  • Pakistan
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Slovakia
  • Sweden
  • Taiwan
  • Turkey

so that 41 million is split between an additional 17 states, what this extra 41m will be for is likely a precursor covering administrative costs for the time being, and or long lead items or initial support contracts.

I suspect, in a year or two down the line, this will all be readjusted to reflect the real contract.

Effectively, what i think this is, is that a PAF order is 'in the system', the initial costings etc are being paid, admin work is being done and it will be paid for/numbers decided once it progresses further and the production line clears up
could the real contract be the ~400 mn Turkish one earlier this year? And this one then just be the admin to get PAF cleared for the 3rd party transfer.

The $400 mn contract could provide between 125 to 150 Amraams (at the 3.5mn/missile FMS rate observed in Saudi and German DSCA releases and upper bound at the USAF procurement cost of 2.5mn/missile) , enough no. 5 squadron sq.

I am afraid all talk of Amraams, V kits and new aircraft is khayali pulao until we actually see a DSCA notification

So, what standoff ammunition is available to Pakistan's F-16?

I am wondering what financial support have Saudis promised us for our defence since we will have to take responsibility of theirs and ours security.
President Trump, being an American CEO, would like to itemize his favors in $ amounts. The KSA may need to fulfill the #s before this quarter ends....
