so, as I understand, he came up from the conditions, where PAF was flying aircrafts life F7 (chinese lower tier Migs), which any modern air force would not fly, in the presence of A4s, F4s, Mirage IIIs, viggins and others.

seems, very un-friendly aircrafts to fly, gave birth to extremely good planners and ever better pilots.

this, un-characteristic mismatching, which is considered a bane in very other air force, PAF somehow excels, to convert into boon!


so, it goes beyond, being a great pilot, it is something else!

importantly, very hard for the enemy to take away from PAF, OTOH, PAF has more to lose, if it changes direction!

One opinion is It was F-16 mafia in PAF, trained in USA, who made PAF combat tactics what it was and modernized the combat curriculum of PAF. In 80's they fought the soviets. They were the first to introduce BVR tactics in PAF through the AMRAAM.

Now it is Chinese planes and tactics which will usher the new era of NCW in PAF. Chief Sidhu made sure F-16 mafia is no more in upper echelons of leadership.

There is a lengthy chinese report about PAF pilots proficiency and skills in shaheen exercise published by a chinese pilot who participated in Shaheen exercises. I shared that in Main Pak-India war thread in May. J-16 deployed electronic warfare. KJ-500 and ZDK-03 provided AEWC support. JF-17/mirages learnt how to fight SU-series and J-10.
