PAF invest in R&D of PLAAF's J-8F

A twin engine A2A fighter that may be available to PAF is PLAAF's J-8F. Again, my point is to develop an advanced updated stealth version of J-8F, not the current J-8F.

The unique advantage of J-8F is its high altitude high speed capability. If the stealth version of J-8F has an internal bay for A2A missiles, this will even strengthen its high speed character.

Nowadays, high speed high altitude is back to fashion again.

Let's say the stealth version of J-8F is J-8FS(Stealth).There may be two configurations.

First, the high speed high altitude version. In such cases, two Russian RD-25 or RD-35 (for the enlarged air frame) turbo engines can be used to replace the current WP-13 (RD-13) on the J-8F. The air frame needs to be optimized at the front and and at the lower side to reduce RCS, as J-8F works as a high altitude interceptor.

Second, the multi role version. Two RD-33 turbofan engines can be used. The whole air frame needs to be optimized.

If there is enough funds, PAF can invest into the R&D of both the J-8F and JH-7A. Once new versions come out like JF-17 block 3 out of J-7/Mig-21, PAF will dominate the ultra high altitude, the ultra altitude. And the J-10C and JF-17 block 3 will compete fiercely at the mid altitude. PAF will transform into a regional major player with strategic strength.

The current trend of multi role fighters are cost cutting compromises after the cold war during relative peaceful times.
With the increasing uncertainties in the current world, air forces look to edge out in air conflicts. Therefore, specialized fighters and fighter bombers and bombers will be back in fashion again.
Both J-8F and JH-7A are specialized niche fighters. Therefore, they have their edges.

Gotta feel sorry for them, some were members for 4-5 years with thousands of posts and Indian flag on profile.
