I absolutely find it amusing when people quote Deino’s twitter and he’s like literally here @Deino

Presence on two forums or communication on two is that amusing ?
I apologize - I didn’t mean it in an offensive way. But rather in a bemusing aspect since he might be able to elaborate on that opinion more here instead us quoting what he could probably also post here and then some(not you) referencing him as a different individual when he’s right here.

Absolutely - that being said I see the PAF deciding on 2-3 BVR mainstays of which the PL-15 is already one, the PL-12 is there with perhaps one other on a local variant of a Chinese baseline - and based on their pockets the PL-10/PL-5E mix for WVR.

I was indeed wrong, it's the TY-20 SAM ... and in fact I have no issues at all if anyone quotes my Tweets!

The question at hand is whether the J10CE/J10P, which are considered 4.5+ gen fighters, require the ability to super cruise like the Typhoon and Rafael. The query is whether the aforementioned capability is a necessary requirement for 4.5+ gen fighters and if the J10CE/J10P possess this feature.

Yes, following PLA news and collecting data in all possible sites to get an as complete as possible impression on such matters is a hard job 😝
So what you do after collecting all theSe data. Just curious !

Who said the Typhoon and Rafael can supercruise? Even the F-35 isn’t capable of that yet.

Super cruise is not a necessary requirement.

IMO, none of these (Rafale, eurofigher, J-10C) are 4.5+ but just 4.5 gen.

Basic requirement for 4.5 is AESA radar & other advance avionics, high capacity datalink, etc so its more of an electronics upgrade to a 4th gen fighter. Engine has nothing much to do with it.

If someone really want to introduce 4.5+ gen category then it should be a 4.5 aircraft plus semi-stealth features, I think perfect candidate for that will be korean KF21.

semi-stealth to an actual radar or to our perception? The Su-35 is supposed to be an 10^-1 order RCS compared to the Su-30. These are some of the sources of radar return along with their solutions towards stealth:
1. Engine blades: S-shaped ducts
2. Edges: Radar absorbent materials AND/OR Edge alignment
3. Panel: Precision engineering AND Edge alignment

milleniumfalcon has a nice video on youtube for details.

The Korean KF21 has indeed reduced RCS with Edge alignment, but maybe the Su-35 / Rafale / J-10 are equally difficult to spot by radar ceteris paribus.
