As far as i remember the J-10 was a privately funded commercial project with Pakistan agreeing to pay a big proportion of the R&D . Then came Zardari and Pakistan did not abide by the agreement, as Zardari gobbled up all the R&D budget. In Fact its on record from ACM Rao Qamar Sulaiman that PAF only ever got 60% of the allocated budget throughout the 5 years of Zardari regime. The other 40% never made it's way to PAF, and disappeared at Ministry of Defense level.
That money barely covered Wages and Day to day running costs.
PAF had no money to contribute towards J-10 R&D. The "Flaws" you are mentioning were a Wishlist from PAF, as Chinese were left to self fund the project, and had taken the project to a different direction as per their needs not PAF needs.

You can call General Musharraf whatever you want. But it was he who Initiated JF-17 and J-10 projects. He actually visited J-10 factory / Facility himself. He made the Joint R&D deal with the Chinse. Then came "Jamhooriyat" .

Nice conspiracy theory.

But Pakistan/PAF rejected the J-10 long before Asif Ali Zardari became the President.

It was either the JF-17 Thunder or the J-10 program and Pakistan went for the JF-17 Thunder. Pakistan needed to desperately replace a lot lightweight fighters and there was availability of F-16s back then, so J-10s didn't seem very attractive.

Chinese troops have been away from war for more than 40 years, and many of our weapons have not undergone the test of actual combat. Pakistan has helped us a lot in this regard.

Thankful for the weapons, and glad to be of help.

Ultimately it is only real war conditions in which weapons (and the full ecosystem) can be really tested to determine efficacy.

Question is how much still PAF want invest in J10c in future ... mean how many more units PAF plan induct... before moving to 5th generation.. (J35/Kaan) ..

Secondly specially after F-16 update package deal and possibilities for V updates for block 52+ ...

Some of them would be replaced with JFT III (though no new orders have been placed as yet!) or a combo of J-10 and new/old build upgraded F-16's. The J-35 is atleast 3-5 years away and induction will not be more than a squadron or two max.

I think PAF is looking at threat matrix and waiting.

It waited for Bhindians to finalize the 36 Rafales deal. Then PAF proceeded to buy 20 J-10CEs urgently. Clearly 20 J-10CEs proved to be superior for imposing air superiority and not the over hyped Rafales or MKIs.

So PAF is most likely waiting to see what final number of jets IAF finalizes and it will proceed to counter the threat accordingly. They are holding onto funds for three possible scenarios......more J-10s.......New build F-16Vs and upgrades for BLK52 or more JF-BLKIII or a combination of these. Funds need to earmarked for future J-35s as well, but that's still 3-4 years in the future because there is nothing IAF can muster that competes with J-35.

BLK III is ready a meal.......they can order anytime because Indian Rafales will take time to deliver.

IMHO PAF is already committed to J-10CE. Their primary concern is obsolescence of over 100 aircraft in the next couple of years, if not earlier,-- 6+ squadrons!! IAF is committed to Rafael.. so no brainer there. IAF is however contemplating between SU-57 and somewhat watered down F-35!! That will take another four to five years to pan out for IAF. Same time lines as PAF, if we go for J-35 or KAAN.

The fact is that there are no new orders for JFT III and our ability to produce new build aircraft are limited to 20+ a/c per year. PFX is altleast 4 to 5 years away.

The real issue, I think, is funds and the new twist in equation of US relations warming up. If the defence pacts pans out with KSA and others and we are able to package the deals properly, then we can source some funds for our replacement programs rather quickly. I think that is the "Wait " we are witnessing.

from where did you get this?
as per @HemlockKhalid/AeronautIR we have only 3 squadron of Mirage which makes it around 60, so this list seems wrong. Also the list says we have 30 JF B3?

This numbers in this table are not accurate... I think it just gives a general idea of IAF's 2-front war doctrine against PLAAF and PAF simultaneously...
