JF-17B are 26, J-10 20.
Yes, if memory serves me right, Gen. Musharraf expressed his intent to buy J-10 while returning from China. I think this was in 2006(?), while Zardari came to power in 2008. PAF was not satisfied with J-10A and was leaning towards more advanced F-16s, which were also feasible because of the American military and financial assistance.Nice conspiracy theory.
But Pakistan/PAF rejected the J-10 long before Asif Ali Zardari became the President.
It was either the JF-17 Thunder or the J-10 program and Pakistan went for the JF-17 Thunder. Pakistan needed to desperately replace a lot lightweight fighters and there was availability of F-16s back then, so J-10s didn't seem very attractive.
What happened of J-10B block 3 ?JF-17B are 26, J-10 20.
Never heard of a B version crash ?I thought we lost 1 jf-17B
Total order was of 36. Not sure how many will be twin-seater.What happened of J-10B block 3 ?
Some were on order, but never saw any. All of the Twin seats B versions are Block 2 standard.
There was a dual-cockpit that crashed but it was replaced free of cost.Never heard of a B version crash ?
Can you post the relevant news over here
Mohsin Ali on Xfrom where did you get this?
as per @HemlockKhalid/AeronautIR we have only 3 squadron of Mirage which makes it around 60, so this list seems wrong. Also the list says we have 30 JF B3?
He can be right as people said that Pak did not produce any jf 17 in 2024 of 2025 turns out otherwise, and it turns out Pak did at least produce jf 17 in 2024 during Azharbhijan training. The exact number is the best guess and that COAS is very strict with numbers and even PAF i suppose personal was court martial due to telling jet number and location to his brother in US i suppose.Mohsin Ali on X
There are a ton of errors on this list but the 26 J-10s caught my eye and I wanted some clarity on this specific thing
Here's the thing i dont think all 6 of those squadrons will be replaced with aircraft in next 5 years. 2 of those are OCU or training squadrons that do not have a primary combat mission. Also we know from the document on f-16s that are getting SLEP the adf fleet will be retired so thats another squadron thats looking to be replaced in near future.IMHO PAF is already committed to J-10CE. Their primary concern is obsolescence of over 100 aircraft in the next couple of years, if not earlier,-- 6+ squadrons!! IAF is committed to Rafael.. so no brainer there. IAF is however contemplating between SU-57 and somewhat watered down F-35!! That will take another four to five years to pan out for IAF. Same time lines as PAF, if we go for J-35 or KAAN.
The fact is that there are no new orders for JFT III and our ability to produce new build aircraft are limited to 20+ a/c per year. PFX is altleast 4 to 5 years away.
The real issue, I think, is funds and the new twist in equation of US relations warming up. If the defence pacts pans out with KSA and others and we are able to package the deals properly, then we can source some funds for our replacement programs rather quickly. I think that is the "Wait " we are witnessing.
The 3rd B3 sqdn was produced for PAF but the Azerbaijan deal was given delivery priority.@Fatman17 says that we have 2 sqd of jf 17 block 3 and while during Azharbhijan training event in Oct 2025, Pak used series 24 (2024) which was never reveled or never shown to public before. First people thought that Pak had 23 to 26 b3 but turns out has more than that.
We shouldn't count PFX until we know exactly what it is. According to the picture PAC hos shown, they intend to first localize the JF-17 as much as possible and then go for a new design based on that, this combined with PAC lack experience and money, easily puts the projet 20+ years away. This raises another question, if PAC is going the JF-17 route, how will they pay for the J-10's and how many units of J-10 they are planning to get? If the plan is for 100 J-10's, it may have to be drastically reduced.PFX is altleast 4 to 5 years away
The data in this picture is almost entirely incorrect. For example, the quantity of J-10A/B/C is 588. The quantity of J-11A/B is 397.
