They seem to have nothing alike! all very different motors, seekers, aerodynamic config.

i wonder if theres even any commonality. Perhaps theyre designated by role and not design

I'm fairly certain there are several reasons for this: Firstly (at the very bottom), the oldest photo appears to be from a time when they simply wanted to show something without being overly accurate. The top photo is simply mislabeled and doesn't show the "small" YJ-21E, but rather the "big one," the H-6N (aka in fact a JL-1A) ... ... the middle one is, in my opinion, the most accurate:

But please @Fatman17 ... we are now so much off-topic in ballistic missiles & general Chinese BM-technology, which has no longer any relevance to the "J-10CE in PAF service"!
