Pakistan Air Force in its official press release revealed the Anti Radiation Range Extension Kit to be armed on J-10CE & JF-17 fighters. This low-cost anti radiation solution means PAF is all prepared to bamboozle Indian S-400 with its SOW, LM and SS ASM.

This is part of the 25 original procurement. 6+6+6 so far. Last installment will be 7.
we have already seen 16 aircraft with PAF markings several months ago which is on record.
if they are 6 this time it would make 22.

and if original procurement plan was 25 , only three are left to deliver.

Where is evidence of any new batch at all??

If you guys are going by this ceremony then just look at the serial numbers of the jets presented in the ceremony. They start from 22-101!! i.e., it's the first batch. There are also aircraft from 2nd batch.

The brecorder report is suspect because it claims the announcement came from military's media wing but I can find no such statement from any official source. So where is the announcement brecorder is basing its report on?

If i missed something then someone please correct me but I think brecorder simply misinterpreted the whole thing. They took the report of the ceremony attended by coas where lot of old stuff was along with some new and thought everything was new. But it was labeled as an induction "and operationalization" ceremony were the J-10 batch was the older one and not new.

Maybe they were just declaring J-10C as operational, but whatever the case I see no evidence of new batch here.

i just corrected fatman's figures, he was of the opinion that 6+6 in the past and 6 are now inducted as per news feed. whereas 16 are already inducted.

so i recounted it for him, 'if' 6 are added now then it comes to 22.

I know and I corrected further that nothing's been added. The figure known to us still remains at 16 or wherever it was before this ceremony.

You may be right. Our media does mis-report a lot even though BR reputation as a business paper is better than most local rags.

Thanks for the clarification.

With all the news going around, hopefully we get some clarification on squadron strength desired. If the PAF is trying to procure enough fifth Gen fighters to cover the originally planned ~120 F-16 in the 1980s, that could be 7 squadrons (4 Squadrons of of J-31 and 3 Squadrons of KAAN), and the JF-17 is covering all F-7 variants; final strength at 188 (10 squadrons), then the J-10 will cover most of the Mirages (~180). PAF will probably cap its J-10 around 126 (7 squadrons), so it can probably get another squadron of J-31 and KAAN down the line. 24 squadrons up from the current 20, and possibly up to the original 26 squadrons planned in the 80s if I remember correctly. Lean and mean.

Hopefully Pakistan can manage the funds to continue to procure at least 10 J-10CE per year going forward, so the PAF can get to (If I remember correctly, each is around $55 million each); so to procure another 101 J-10CE it would take ten years; by 2035. With hopefully a couple of those squadrons being J-10D (EW variants) and 2 full strength squadrons being able to cover naval support (supported eventually by one squadron of Land based J-31 to provide stealth cover to the J-10 naval force).
