Another major air power YouTube channel weighing in:

12:45 Pakistan’s Chinese fighters may have indeed outclassed India’s French jets or maybe India exercised sloppy OPSEC and blew the mission or an Indian pilot made a bad judgement call or a Pakistani pilot had a very lucky night or some combination of all of these things or none of these things at all. The simple fact of the matter is warfare is a complex messy and confusing business.

Implication: The world believes Indians jets were shot down.

The PAF has to make due with whatever it has on hand. In an Indo-Pak Conflict like this one, the first things to deplete are munitions stocks, especially guided ones. So, if there's something the PAF (and armed forces generally) will need constant supplies of from the Chinese and Turks, it's munitions. However, once this episode concludes, I would expect the PAF to prioritize acquiring additional J-10CEs, JF-17Cs, and upgrading the Block-2s -- ASAP. Plus, they'll likely start exploring their own 'Steel Dome' or 'Iron Dome' umbrella for mitigating enemy drone, loitering munitions, ALCM, and BM strikes.

Hi,

I am a car salesman by profession. At one place I worked---top guy sold about 40 cars a month---I sold 33 on average---bottom guys continuously sold around 20---.

Were all of us doing our best---absolutely---and I have seen this all over the car sales spectrum.

In a similar manner---the IAF best did what they could to the best of their ability---Paf operators did to their best---.

Seems like someone is making excuses on behalf of the indians.

Were 'only' 2? LOLOLOL. Until today GOI is not releasing any info on the matter. Pakistan side released coordinates and intercepted comms, i am amazed that Pak can even intercept their comms. Really wtf moment, it means their EW is practically bullshit.

Look both side will bullshit and brag, but Pak side had been very transparent, you could have challenged them. This is like the repeat of the teaboy episode, GOI keeps silent until theres no way of covering it up anymore. If we didn't have crash debris transmitted around the world, India would have continued lying. Now we know they are 4 crashes for sure, india better start talking. When Pak claimed 4 planes down and 1 drone shot, I was thinking it was bullshit, but that claim is too outrageous that even the Paks themselves wont simly make unless they are certain. In the teaboy episode, they at most said 2 shots and 1 was proven with teaboy. I now believe India actually covered up the MKI crash.

Pakistan does need an iron dome equivalent for its bases for sure. It was surprising to see drones and cruise missiles get so close( guess it is a feature of being them being ground hugging platforms ). Recent events show that Brahmos can be defeated, esp in its terminal phase but base defence has a saturation problem where defences it seems can be overwhelmed even if the type of platform itself can be defeated.

Given that the jets are in HAS if not operationally deployed on a mission, the cost of these attacks is more the support infrastructure that support the jets and logistics itself ( except for large platforms like C130/IL76 etc ).

This event shows that the PAF is now the lead service, so funding allocations must be changed to reflect this now.

these are to counter the Chinese PL-15 when it was released 10 years ago

China are working on the PL-17 for 6th generation aircraft J-36 and J-50

Pakistan should not put in a formal request

J-35 + PL-17 air to air missile

Given the experiences in Ukraine, I have to say that perhaps it is fundamentally infeasible to stop EVERY cruise missile and suicide drones ever to encroach a pakistani city, instead on top of long range/area air defence systems should receive greater magazine depth, while terminal defence systems should be focused on defending critical infrastructure - transformers, water, communications, storage to name a few. While it may be cruel to say, but so long as key infrastructures are kept intact, having concrete, rebar, bricks and asphalt soaking up enemy standoff munitions isn’t necessarily a bad deal, from a war effort sustainability standpoint, with pakistan at a disadvantage in terms of raw mass.

In terms of the specifics, instead of Iron Dome systems that really is more designed to stop low-end ballistic targets (pipe rockets being a primary recipient), like I said, AD systems with inexpensive missiles and greater magazine depth, as well as effective terminal interception systems should be a better fit. I’m thinking of systems such as the FK-3/HQ-22 (known for being inexpensive), HQ-11 for deployment flexibility and magazine depth, and for terminal intercept pakistan might be interested in both novel and conventional systems, from combat proven (in saudi) laser interception system “silent hunter”, microwave drone jamming systems IMG_1629.pngto FK-3000 system combining AHEAD firing autocannon and 96 micro-missilesIMG_1630.png
