Oh JF-17 is also the first fighter to hit service with DSI intakes. It came into service before F-35.

The DSI intakes of first generation used by JF-17 really limits top speed but this isn't a fast jet or was ever going to become a fast jet. Mach 1.7 top speed is plenty enough. J-20's DSI intakes do some magic wizardry to vary geometry and airflow and allows J-20s to go well past mach 2 but different costs and complexities.

DSI helps keep cost down, once designed, it's easier and cheaper to manufacture and much cheaper to maintain. It is also much stealthier than caret and variable geometry ramp types. Yeah this is no stealth jet by any measure but why not decrease RCS even a little where it is beneficial to in every other way?

Imagine a lighter F-16, F-18 hybrid that's a fraction of the cost, armed with long range missile and 4.5 gen networking.

Wealthier countries buy Gripen, political purchase would be FA-50 to buy favours from US and Korea. Rest who aren't aligned and on a budget has really only the JF-17 which explains why it's been selling more than FA-50 and Gripen.

Always the Sqn emblem ie J10s in this case.

These military contractors generally provide items only to serving personnel. I don't know if they entertain orders from civilians.

Hope that is a spelling mistake by the guys who put his name on the jet

I think it's spelled as Ashad

The middle one does look like the 'note-taker'......
On a serious note, they really are pilots/researchers in that squadron,as Chishti sb mentioned,their sole purpose was to find ways to kill Rafales....
