PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

Openly available public stuff the physical aspect of J-35
Really look a bit like F-15 (Stealth++) with the whole Double Engine at back
(Top View) the length and proportions of wings

But does look more like F-35 in ground camera angles

Hard to imagine such a fine bird is not China's main Jet but J-20 IS

The focus of J35 is to serve the naval aviation. Used for aircraft carriers. Its construction quality will be quite high, and the marine environment is more harsh than on land. The Air Force will shift towards the next generation of fighter jets in the future, and the J20 itself has been in service for many years. The J35 is great, it will have a place in our air force, replacing the old batch of J-10A and so on. It's just that the arrival time is a bit late. Any Chinese who sees SAC fly j-50 (j-xx) frequently will change their eyes.

That is true China is flying the first generation J10A as well in their airforce

China itself has not inducted the J-35A fighter. I think after China has inducted over 100 J-35 and had gone through several upgrade iterations only then PAF should induct the fighter.

Most think so. In fact, early on I thought so too.
However, the truth smacks us mercilessly in the face.

The PLAAF will be the first to get the J-35A and, will mass equip it.

However, what we thought was the focus. the PLA Navy. They will get the J-35 after PLAAF, and currently the J-35 carrier version (WS-21) is still in the military testing phase.
The J-35 carrier version (WS-19) they want has yet to make its first flight. It may even come after the J-35 foreign trade version (WS-21).

China itself has not inducted the J-35A fighter.
PLAAF has acquired J-35A fighters. It's just that the factory is currently under construction and improvement and cannot go into mass production. The current numbers are too small.

You need to convince your fellow man first. Many of them think PAF will get J-35s this year ......

For Pakistani Need since we don't have a Aircraft carrier of course the plane can be used in it's current state, the Aircraft carrier do need a Plane which has more powerful engines

Pakistan’s acquisition of the J-35 stealth fighter jets from China appears increasingly likely, especially given reports that PAF pilots have already begun training on the platform. The key questions now revolve around the timeline, quantity, and formal induction into the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

Recent reports suggest that Pakistan is set to receive approximately 40 J-35A jets, with deliveries expected to begin by Q1 2026. However, there are rumors that an initial batch of 3 to 6 J-35 may arrive earlier, potentially on February 5, 2026 (Kashmir Day). If true, this would mark a significant milestone in Pakistan’s air force modernization efforts.

I disagree. Time will tell that PL-17 will fit with J-35 since that is one of the reasons China has given these to Pakistan. But at this stage I don't have any concrete proof - just someone telling me this.

The J-20 has a main magazine length of 6.5m, the J-35 has a main magazine length of 4.5m, and the PL-17 has a length of 6m.

Nah. What money? China can't sell J-35 to Pakistan for free. When China itself is just starting to receive J-35 orders for navy. Unless ground based model is only for Pakistan but then that is even more expensive because the side production line would have to be financed entirely by Pakistan which would be tens of billions of dollars worth of manufacturing to divide into unit cost.

You would need orders at least 2 or 300 to bring the cost to less than $100M per plane.

Suppose China also is receiving ground based version for airforce, then there's no way China will spare the additional manufacturing capacity unless Pakistan can pay for additional lines for production. Maybe the numbers can be made better but I doubt Pakistan should bother. Stealth fighter is honestly much more offensive weapon as well.

It can be used to seriously hunt inside India. That would destroy India China relations entirely... much worse than even during 2021. China stupidly is still hoping to make India a consumer market.

Some here are saying a hundred J-10 and at least one full squadron of J-35. This really is too unlikely unless we're talking taking Chinese PLAAF J-10s but China also wants to keep them as numbers filler.

What China should do is promote its UAVs to Pakistan and drone swarms. That can be a serious deterrent to India without needing all this loud and noisy arms deals. Drones are much cheaper and get the job done.
Your theory is based on what exactly?

when PAF previously purchased 20 J-10CEs, the vast majority of the purchase price was a loan from China. To date, the payment for that shipment has not been settled.
Pak obviously does not have forex to pay, but Pak may be paying off using some other means. Contract of Saindak Copper-Gold project with MCC which also owns ~52% stakes in it. So far MCC has earned ~$2 billion, actual amount difficult to ascertain due to both Pak-China gov/mil policies.
Project has been extended.
Pak and China close allies, Pak provides a 2nd front engagement to India on behalf of China, it is by default also, but it serves massively to PRC strategic interests.
May advantages Pak provides are intangible, like recent J10CE, PL15E advertisement not just for sales but also a deterrent vis a vis Taiwan, the whole multi domain war theater.
Same relationships Pak had with USA with FMS/FMF, though it was transactional.

US is amused to see Indian frustrations after downing of the IAF French Rafale and plans of 5th generation J-35A for Pakistan. They will now again offer F-35 at high prices and with multilayered restrictions.

America when in good humour was very generous....f 16 in the 80s were gift so were other goodies....china has a pretty mercantilist mindset.
