PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

Pilot training and conversion continues in China as of September. Not likely to complete anytime soon. Mastering a 5th gen is a different ball game altogether. We thought J10C was demanding but this thing is unfamiliar territory. So far so good.
Will these Pakistani pilots learn to communicate in chinese? Or will they communicate with their instructors in English?

Our defense ties are 70 years old right? Communication isn't a barrier anymore.

Yeah, the days of us translating Chinese manuals for F-6 in the 1960s are long gone.

Also, it is no longer unfamiliar to bump into armed forces officers with working knowledge or even fluent Mandarin in Pakistan

@AeronautIR can answer this question. His brother is a J-10CE fighter pilot.

As far as I know, all PLAAF pilots and instructors are fluent in English. This is part of their basic curriculum.
However, if you want to build a good relationship with these instructors and get them to teach you more, then you must be able to communicate with them fluently in Chinese.

It would be very hard for Chinese pilots to fly across different air spaces and conduct complex exercises with foreign forces without a good working knowledge of English, in fact without that it would actually be very dangerous
