The fifth-generation fighter is like a 5G smartphone, which needs to be supported by a more advanced information network. PAF does not currently have this advanced information network system. The price of this system is much higher than the price of an airplane.

If PAF does not purchase this advanced information network system, then there are two solutions:

1. Borrow PLA's advanced information network system. This means that the PAF fully shares the data information of this batch of FC31s with the PLA, and at the same time, the PLA has some control over this batch of FC31s. This model is adopted by many countries around the world when purchasing F35. It's not clear to me if PAF would like to do that.

2. Castrated version FC31. It is equivalent to using a 5G smartphone in a 3G/4G network. The disadvantage is that it is very versatile, and it is bound to be limited. The advantage is that the control is in your own hands.

None of the existing and soon-to-be-purchased AWACS aircraft of the PAF, the existing command data link, can fully support the fifth generation fighter.

Please read up on Link-17 and other in house systems PAF has.
They were designed as a hybrid of Link-16 and Link-22 so fairly advanced.

If you can, you can dig deeper into the relevant information (there is very little information available in terms of data links).

Fifth-generation fighters place very high demands on data communication systems. NATO's latest data link, Link-22, cannot be fully satisfied, and its core data processing functions are still independently controlled by the United States and are not shared with other NATO countries through Link-22.

At present, all countries in the world equipped with F35 are directly responsible for the data processing function of the US military, and these countries do not have the ability to process data. To put it simply, they are just paying for the US military to station the F35, and they do not have control over the F35.

As for the Link-16 of the last century and the Link-17 of the PAF, it is impossible to support the fifth-generation fighter. At best, it can only achieve simple communication, and it is powerless to deal with the massive data communication and information processing capabilities of the fifth-generation fighter.

If you thought the Link-17 was very advanced, it was probably many years ago.

I made an analogy before that a fifth-generation fighter is like a 5G smartphone. You can certainly use it in a 3G/4G network, but when you use it in a 5G environment, it's going to be another world. It's like you're using the same 5G smartphone in China and Pakistan, it's a completely two-world experience.

I'm more versed than the majority of Pakistanis in discussing the economic implications than those who hold substandard degrees. But you've also proven my point with that thinking.

Anyways, continue induction training for J-31s.

Not much is known about Link 17 (maybe deliberately), but am confident that both China and Pakistan would focus on a data link solution prior to any 5th gen induction
 
Reportedly Pakistan Air Force may get 40 J-31 stealth fighters as a part of its 1st phase and total numbers of units, to be acquired, will be more than 70. (Quoted this from a SM source).

Gyrfalcon will join Pakistan Air Force in 2025 [3rd/4th Quarter].

As per media reports, PAF pilots are being trained in China for Gyrfalcon, which means order has definitely been placed, it's expected that Pakistan Air Force will be procuring around 40 fighters [approx. 2x SQN] in phase-1/batch-1.

Pakistan officially announced the news of pilot training in China? Is it clear that they are coming to be trained with FC31? Or, there are pictures of these pilots training in China?

There is too much such content as "As per media reports..............

Beautiful plane that is destined to be the premier fighter aircraft in the sub-continent all throughout the late 2020s and 2030s by a huge distance.
 
My guestimate is that PAF will get the J-31 eventually, but not before maybe 2027-2028 at earliest.

PAF may get hands on a small batch of maybe 10 aircrafts in the beginning. When the Shenyang factory ramps up the production, rest will be delievered. Which is late 2020s - early 2030s.

But tbf most of us here have no clue because PLA is opaque on the development and production line of both the PLAN and PLAF versions.

Why the J-31---???

I am not going to explain---but would just say---something happened---something came up that made the Pak military re-assess its position and they decided to go for it---.

It was an extremely critical decision.
