PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

Did you check WHEN I was surprised? This tweet is from 2021 one of the very first sightings of the naval J-35!
Im going out on a limb to play devils advocate - the “twelfth man” rule - let’s assume for a minute that all the advances in flight testing, part printing, etc so on results in a J-35(even if its 2) sitting on a Pakistani tarmac in:

2026(as being claimed even though based on EVIDENCE of official statements AND Chinese defense insiders NOTHING suggests that its even remotely possible).

What would HAVE to happen from a “capability” perspective both at SAC and by inference CATIC to make this occur?
And we’ve discussed this but I want to highlight the immense delta that is needed for such an event.

And it’s purely hypothetical just so we dont(one can hope) want more rumors created from this thread because it literally is a snake eating its own tail.

Rumours...25 J35 will be delivered in the last quarter of this year. ...not confirm, but some Pindi boys.
These are not just rumours...don't pay heed to all knowing twats and proud contrarians

Many years ago a Pindi boy told me they had J-20s and that just F-16s were enough for Rafales.

Make sure you have the right Pindi(or E-9) boy

If they’re not - let’s provide what that roadmap would be instead of “Inshallah”

Don't bog me down into nitty gritty of the things that are beyond my technical grasp .... you are better at that. . . All I am saying these are not rumours .

China would rather sell this 5th gen++ JH-26 fighter/bomber to Pakistan than selling the J-16.

Since the J-16 still uses the aero frame of the flanker, and China did promise to Russia not exporting any flanker-like aircraft.

Beautiful bird but i don’t think that’s gonna happen ever let alone anytime soon

The issue of purchasing J-16 has been discussed many times in the past. China's "Flanker" series fighters cannot be exported because of an agreement with Russia. Therefore, the JH-7A, which is both cheap and exportable, is the best choice for the Pakistan Air Force. In the past, Mastan Khan was very supportive of purchasing second-hand JH-7A from the People's Liberation Army Air Force.

The JH-7A is better suited as a naval attack aircraft against warships. The JH-7A can not only carry electronic pods for electronic warfare missions, but also use the YJ-12 supersonic antiship missiles with a range of 400-500km.

The JH-7A is still very competent as a coastal defender. But Pakistan doesn't seem to have much pressure on its naval defense.

We will see when J35 will come to PAF whether this year/next year or in 2030-2032 time frame let's wait and see

Oscar ....one thing I want to add , in this thread I was talking about strategic compulsions in the Persian gulf for the early induction of J 35 ... you were down playing those compulsions....I hope you will rethink about it....one thing more I said J35 is not India specific

I saw a JH-7 fly over my house last week

I live in the rural parts of Huzhou, Zhejiang, near Hangzhou

I always had a soft spot for the JH-7. It was PLAAF's first modern (ish) indigenous design. A pretty good design for 1980s China, much more ambitious in its scope than anything in Asia at the time.

Then if you cannot understand the nitty gritty of it then it may not be rumors for you but belief - but its not fact until it happens.

At this point the ONLY fact is
PAF has expressed interest in J-35 and they will be here SOON where the word SOON is as clear as the waters of Karachi’s Nullahs.

Strategic compulsions are not related to whether the aircraft can be technically ready in numbers with all of the required test points to be delivered to the PAF in the timeframe everyone is regurgitating into each others mouths.

I both see a minute possibility of it based on what I “believe” but also doubt it entirely based on my limited understanding and knowledge of the subject of aircraft manufacturing.

JH-7A Fighter Bomber, Type 039 submarine, 022 missile speedboat. These three veterans protected China's offshore security before the rise of the Chinese Navy (before 2013).
