Egypt has not confirmed any more Rafale purchases. Egypt already operates Rafale for years and years and so does India. This is why they are potentially ordering more. Their first purchases were tiny batches of a handful of Rafales with the intention since years ago to order more.

Rafale has won precisely zero new orders since May 2025. Only existing order to fulfill. Most countries once committed to a major defence purchase already gears their airforce for their spearhead. In Egypt and India's case, they have already committed to Rafale as their spearhead fighter for about half a decade.

J-10CE operated by PAF succeeding over Rafale F4 operated by India does not allow tens of billions of commitment and regearing logistics to be reversed because these commitments were made long before May 2025 where J-10C bested Rafale F4.

Egypt's Rafales in this years Eagles of Civilisation training exercise were absolutely wiped by J-16 given the leaks from the Chinese side. So bad was the matchup that most of the narratives were explaining how the PLAAF side had to offer face saving for Egypt.

The direction is clear enough. Rafale F3 and F4 simply do not possess the capability to face J-16 in BVR. WVR is pilot skill determined so we can simply ignore the results from the exercise (where PLAAF Flankers supposedly won 7-1 against Egyptian Rafale).

Rafale is fancy but this is like comparing a $3000 2026 computer (J-16) to a $10,000 2006 computer (Rafale F4). Fancy and expensive doesn't translate to combat effectiveness.

PAF vipers aren't going anywhere anytime soon they will receive further upgrades till they can't have anymore and soldier on till the last piece of hardware working in them. They are still a beast and will remain so for years to come in PAF.

One correction though. Not every airforce can afford a fifth generation fighter jet regardless of the new tech or trend. Almost 90% will keep using fourth or four plus generation fighters.

J-10C was always better than F-16. Here's a comparison of both by a PAF pilot who operated F-16s before in PAF.

The speed increment was so fast that post take-off procedures had to be executed in rapid succession to remain with the aircraft.
