Better option is to flatten bagram with old bombs and near expiry missiles, and completely destroy any assets and weapons stored there.. practice bombing of runway would be good also..

Taliban will sell millions of minerals but continue to remain in their interpretation of a simple lifestyle. At best you will see upgraded cars and a better hujra but that is that.
All other aspects of their lifestyle wont change simply because there is little lines of communication for anyone else to have aspirations especially 50% of their other sex population to do anything.

So unlike Ghani running with millions or billions - where will these guys go ?

But that doesnt change the overall ingrained hostility of the population now compounded by the Taliban as well.

One could argue that the Taliban never showed goodwill but that would be inaccurate - prior to WoT most of the original Taliban Cadre and also more senior commanders would call Pakistan home.
Post that they basically saw Pakistan betray most of them and that continues to be the sentiment. Now its down to the "Khandani Dushmani" situation.

While everyone hopes for Haqqanis - they dont really command true foot soldiers beyond those in purely for the money because all those for ideology are lost to this overall Pakistan hatred.

If Pakistan itself gets a good civilian setup (after this hybrid setup is gone), we can easily help create a multi ethnic regime of conciliation in Afghanistan. Gul Badeen Hikmatyar led government would be a great solution (who would represent Pashtoons), obviously leaders from all factions, ethnicities should constitute that setup, with a balanced clearly spelled out power sharing formula.

I think time for Taliban-only regime is over though.
 
Stopping this would be criminal unless Afghan beg live to stop it.

You are not getting my point brother, what I am saying is that we have lost a lot of beloved soldiers at Afghan and Pak border crises but why recently field marshal went so rogue? I am trying hard to learn that field marshal is serious about stopping terrorism or he’s doing someone’s dirty job. I hope you understand
 
Afghan should carefully think who advised to attack Pak yesterday is now the reason for a weak gov in Afghan and in future it will lead collapse. It was a sucidie act and that advisor of Taliban should be live hang.

I actually think it is an excellent time to validate them in a softer environment, especially the processes associated with the new rocket force. Plus the next time they enter they field with India they come with a conflict proven pedigree. Does wonders for troop psych.

We're there cheaper options that could have gotten it done just as well? Yes.
In that case this was about other things.
