You need to realize that a lot of time what gets termed as "IBOs" is simply troop movements through tough terrain where these ambushes happen.
A lot of these casualties are happening not in a firefight, rather by falling into ambushes. 11 officers and troops being KIA is a sure-shot indication that they were ambushed.
Training, tech, intelligence, protection ALL have to be looked at and reconsidered.

U can't really conduct airstrikes in fata . It's your own population. Airstrikes always have collateral. The army has recognized this and do not want to anger the civillian population anymore and subsequently increase support for ptm. That's why they have pivoted to intelligence based operations.

I have seen a lot, but someone sitting at their keyboard and criticizing soldiers who fight in the most difficult terrains.. and giving up their lives, is just .. unfortunate.
