Playing with fire, the Americans couldn't pacify the Taliban in over 20 years, what makes the Pak military think they can? I hope they step up security in key bases, don't want to lose key assets like Erieyes or F16s to suicide attacks.
Pakistan is not trying to "occupy" Afghanistan. Just raising the cost. If Pakistani blood flows, so will Afghan.

I would have preferred a non kinetic solution, do a deal with the Taliban...we know who these people are, we created them back in the 80-90s, make them turn on the TTP, if the TTP have no safe haven, they will quickly die out, the US adopted the same approach to eliminate ISIS. But if kinetic action is the last resort, the it needs to be intelligence led, surgical, and ruthless ...not only is the target to be eliminated, but the second, third, fourth in the chain, even their pet dogs. We're looking at a similar approach to what the Israelis are doing to Hamas. But above all, be well prepared to blowback, and more innocent Pakistanis killed in suicide attacks.

They tried, but failed, that is why we are here now.

Afghan authorities reported an explosion in the Afghan capital of Kabul late on Thursday night.

Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabeehullah Mujahid said in a post on X: “The sound of an explosion was heard in the city of Kabul. However, no one should worry, it is all well and good, the investigation of the incident is underway, no report of any damage has been given so far.”

Sources reported a Land Cruiser vehicle was apparently hit in the area of Abdul Haq Square in Kabul.

Afghan media outlet Tolo News reported that, according to locals, the Abdul Haq intersection was closed, resulting in widespread traffic congestion in the area.

AFP journalists reported that two explosions were heard in the capital. The two blasts occurred around 9:50pm local time (10:20 PKT). In the streets of the Afghan capital, numerous security forces were alerted and were searching cars, an AFP journalist saw. Mobile telephone service was down in several neighborhoods.

Taliban cannot just be pacified. They just have something up their backsides that keeps them restless. At best Pakistan is:
  • Taking out their leadership so they lose their command and hence back off from Pakistani areas, or at least become crippled
  • Preemptively damaging Taliban to sabotage a 2-front attack form India/Afg
  • Signaling to Taliban that sending their people to India is pointless if they do not have good relations with Pakistan.

Wonder how the IEA munafiqs are going to respond -- will they admit casualties of TTP bastards? Unlikely as it only proves their munafiqat and lies.

Or will they cry rivers about violation of sovereignty.

The Taliban, like the mafia bosses, know it too well that once they look weak the other warlords will jump on them like hyaenas. Hence, the pressure must be increased to the breaking point. You can't hold back now....

We are in war now, you will see all routes closed. Afghan refugees hunted down. Their sympathizers killed without regard for collateral damage.

Blockade is about to be imposed.
Nobody's 'hunting down' Afghan refugees, you are making it sound way too ominous. If any of them are here illegally and are a threat to national security then Pakistan needs to take action. did you not see how the Afghans sabotaged Iran in the Iran Israel war ? What else should Pakistan do here ? Just Ignore it ?

And nobody has talked about blockade. One of the smaller border crossings closed since 2 years was opened up today for trade.

All total assumptions.

If they shoot off their mouths asking for terrorist strikes in Pakistan, then Pakistan should destroy all the helicopters that they own, that they are so fond of… impose a real cost on them.

These helicopters can be potentially be used against Pakistan, so double reasons to take them out.

Whole thing seems a rise and repeat from December 2024 when TTP ambushed and killed some soldiers , then Pakistan bombed Paktia in Afghanistan and Taliban responded by shelling the border.
