I agree there is not much that requires boots on ground situation in Afghanistan, also the resistance would be minimal, but there could certainly be situations during the conflict with Indians where we need that. Now would be a perfect time to battle test our plans in a lower threat environment.

2 days back Arnab Goswami had called over an Afghan to his program to speak against Pakistan .... and when the time came to bash Pakistan, Arnab was all ready, smiling, asked the Afghan guest to begin .. And ... instead of talking about Pakistan, the guy turned onto India and insulted Modi for whole 1 minute nonstop (which is a world record on that program for someone to not be interrupted for a minute) .... he kept insulting Modi for allying with the Taliban, who are oppressors of Women and Abuse Children, etc, etc. He even said that Afghans will never forgive India for this, after the Taliban are gone

This is why Congress should not come back to power in India. BJP are ruining India's foreign policy, economy, reputation and military to shreds out of their insane hate for Pakistan. Congress are too sensible for these kinda disasters.
