Looks like the Pak military analysts are listening to PDF!! The suggestions like buffer zones, road transportations cut-off, Wakhan corridor annexation, targeting TTA leadership etc. are being openly discussed in public TVs...

One thing that I find no one saying here.
This is how Pakistan deals with terrorism. Yes Indians this is how a brave nation responds. When the afghans and khwarji attacked our beloved Pakistan we responded with a force that the world can see!!! **** Around and Find Out -FAFO!!!

We did this to both our enemies India in occupied Kashmir and Afghanistan in the west , 21 posts destroyed hundreds of enemies of Pakistan in their graves!!

Remember india unlike you we hit back and hit back hard!!!!!

Pakistan Zindabaad!!!

I pray for the future of Pakistan.

What you need to think is the advantages Pakistan has and how can that lead to a long term solution so events like this dont repeat in future ?

Pakistan has technology, a variety of weapon arsenal as well as a sizeable field Army and a fair enough budget. How can that give advantage to Pakistan over Taliban who can run into mountains for next 20 Years (as seen during ISAF tenure) and then come back and take over the country.

Pakistan can bomb the hell out of them, push their infrastructure back a few more years, but what is vital for Taliban which could actually hurt them in the long run ? PAF can send 1000 sorties per day and create rubble after rubble, but are we playing a game of numbers, like Pakistan kills 500 TTA/TTP while Taliban kill 100 Pakistan soldeirs so does Pakistan win ? Vietnam war proves otherwise. VC had tunnels, Taliban have caves.

Whats the long term effective and practical solution ? No a day dream wish. And what are the steps to reach that solution?
Thanks for a thought-provoking post. Yes, we all indeed want a long lasting solution to the Afghan issue. However, I would beg to differ at several points in your post.

Please note that the case of ISAf was radically different from the current situation. In the former case, the ISAF was a foreign force, alien to the local culture, traditions, ethnic compositions and vulnerabilities, etc., came in to occupy Afghanistan. Keeping control of certain locations/roads was required for their logistics and security.

Another vital difference would be the sympathy for Afghan fighters in the population along Pak-Afghan and Iran-Afghan borders. American kicked their ass even in Tarabora, killing many of fleeing Taliban, and pushed them into Pakistan. Yes, it's true Taliban came back from mountains after many years and occupied almost the whole country again as soon as the ISAF left. That was possible only because there was no genuine Afghan government in place in Kabul. The puppets didn't take long to escape right after the ISAF flew out their last flight from Bagram.

Pakistan, first of all, has no urge or need to occupy Afghanistan's land. There is no logistic issues or unnecessary exposures to the enemy. And if Pak succeeds in forcing these Kandahari terrorists to seek refuge in mountains with targeted operations, other Afghan factions/warlords/ethnic groups will be quick to fill the vacuum and establish their own control/writ in Kabul.

In the absence of active support from Pakistanis living on Pak-Afghan border, these brainless idiots would barely survive on the mountains without food and arms supplies. Even if they somehow could survive in there and then try to sneak back to Afghan cities, other ruling Afghan factions would just chop their heads off at the first sighting.

Tbh Afghans shud be ashamed of them selves for how much pakistan has done for them in last 50 odd years

The term pak afg conflict shud make their heads bow in shame
These are extremely ungrateful and shameless people. They have no dignity and self-respect. It's worth noting that most of these Taliban were raised in Pakistan while attending Pakistani madrassahs, which BTW run, for the most part, with zakat and sadaqat money, for years. You can rightly say these namak-harams were raised as beggars. True to their nature, these evil people, in return, have been sending suicide bombers to explode themselves in Pakistani masajid and madrassahs.

The families, parents, siblings of these Taliban, all of them were given refuge in Pakistan from the death and destruction brought onto them by foreign invaders, provided security, and fed many millions of them for many decades. Any nation having an iota of dignity and self-respect would have been grateful to Pakistan for many generations for what Pakistan has done for them.

Far from being grateful, rather quite opposite, these haramis joined hands with the worst enemies of Allah Almighty, Mushrikeen of Hind, in killing the reciters of the kalimah toyyibah just for the sake of money. I am pretty sure these jahannami dogs will be pushed away from the Kosar and thrown in the deepest level of the hell fire on the day of judgement.

afghanistan just seems like a complete and total disaster. These iranic types seem to be drawn to constant conflict.

Is the Afghan interim government truly representative of the Afghan people?

Most were lost prob due to Tban mortar sttack on Pak posts.
Agreed, 23 martyrdoms and 28 injured is a large total number but we must also understand that 1) those who attack first have an edge and sometimes the element of surprise too, despite the attack being expected; and 2) Talibaan fighters are also experienced in terrain supporting maneuvers and strategies, they have years of experience of fighting the coalition forces which mean fighting an experienced adversary.

I still don't get why we haven't at least taken the Wakhan Corridor
We don't want to do anything illegal or unwarranted. We cannot get away by taking over land which belongs to another country and is not globally recognised as disputed; only Israel can do that.

Hmm , pakistan is not some sort of superpower, few sanctions can break this country apart due to no economy .
Pak can't do such action as of now .
Few sanctions can break many a country apart. By the way, we have lived under severe sanctions imposed by our ally, the US, under Pressler Amendments after Russian withdrawal from Afghanistan.
