Afghan T-55s are in a sorry condition Several have been taken out in just one night using drones and ATGMs , Afghans are trying to use the T-55 as self-propelled artillery pieces, stupidly positioning them on ridges and mountain tops with their profles clearly visible against the night sky to be picked up thermal imaging night vision range finders. Wonderful target practice for our anti-tank gun crews ! Tank guns have very limited elevation rarely being able to elevate beyond 30 degrees. "Over the top" artillery fire from guns elevated at 45 degrees is not possible,
Those T-55s are quite tough actually, if used properly. Almost 100,000 were produced in different variants. They were a nightmare to NATO in the 1960s They were not intended to be used as static artillery but in massed highly mobile formations expertly crewed and battle managed, sweeping across the flat Russian plains supported by artillery fire, and layers of ground attack aircraft, and air superiority fighters providing cover . India used T-55s against Pakistan in the 1971 war successfully in both East Pakistan and on the front against then West Pakistan. The Vietnamese used the T-55s successfully against M-48 Pattons and the Egyptians used the T-55s quite successfully in the 1973 Sinai conflict.
Pakistan is well aware of the weaknesses of the T-55s having captured these from India and also studied abandoned T-55s after the Soviet retreat from the Panjshir valley in 1988.

Not gonna happen, Indians would need big preparations and as of now there are no signs, air activity, briefings, NOTAMs on Indian Side, Air Drills from India, etc. Also, no defensive activity from Pakistan, which would have been very visible from both sides, at least 10 days in advance.
Seems like India did not want to come forward again and asked Afghans to do their dirty work ... and it failed. Nothing from their side, as I have read many international experts confirm as well.
