Just wait for another ten years. Taliban will get more lethal weapons, missiles and Air defense systems from India. Then you won't be able to fly your drones in Afghanistan. May be Taliban even allow indians to establish their defence web in afghanistan. And your fighter jets and AWACs will be shot down from the west when indo-Pak conflict broke out next time.

It was high time to take out military capability of Taliban and their ability to govern Afghanistan.

Even if india sends air defences Do you really think they will be allowed to just setup and take pot shots? No they are going poof the second they land

They have enough manpower to be a serious headache for the Talibs in the North.

Northern Alliance (Or NRF now) is now a local force; they were enough to make the Taliban not come into their area, but they don't have any effect outside their AO, which is the Panjshir Valley. And that's thanks to Uncle Sam (The Taliban moved heavy equipment the US left into the area, and basically pinned them down)

The problem for Pakistan with Afghanistan is when they rage insurgency inside Pakistan, you can put them down if they fight you head on, which is what we had been trying to do in those 20 years, Pakistan have enough force to do it, but they won't becuase they learnt how to deal with a superior opponent, if they are fighting you upfront and on the surface, there are nothing for Pakistan to worry about, but if I were Pakistan Defence, I would look very closely on Pakistani side of the border, if they don't do single engagement and started to do hit and run, that's where it become a problem.
