why not just BOMB these ttp camps at once why do our establishment tolerate them. doesnt matter. they terrorize the afghan civilians too.

That country is honestly a wasteland.

People here keep demanding that Pakistan take over the Wakhan Corridor but no one has explained why. What exactly will Pakistan gain from doing that? However, I can think of many downsides.

For one thing, it would require a lot of military effort to occupy and hold.

Second, it would be considered an illegal act by the international community. Countries hostile to Pakistan will create an uproar in world forums. Even China may be unhappy.

Third, Pakistan doesn’t have much trade with Central Asia. Plus, it doesn’t have anything to export anyways. Pakistan can have 10x existing imports and exports using its existing ports if it produced something the world wanted to buy.

Fourth, the money spent in occupying the corridor can be spent in building factories in Pakistan to produce export goods. That will earn more money than building roads in the mountains.

I can go on with several more downsides but this should be enough for now. Anyone who still believes that we should take over Wakhan should explain why.

While everyone is thinking Wakhan is a low hanging fruit
Let’s think a little.

You could do it today by using heli based landings of SSG to take posts and using
drones to cover the narrow defile east of Ishkashim, jamming Taliban comms and softening outposts near the Oxus River’s headwaters. Simultaneously, either another heliborne insertion or even C-130s could parachute in a light infantry battalion(are they even at any readiness for paradrops??) atop Keyghobad Pass, cutting off reinforcements from the south. Artillery teams emplaced on rear ridgelines and airstrikes would punch precision rounds at any Taliban positions spotted below, while engineers rapidly breach minefields along the Lake Chaqmaqtin axis.

So yes - in 48 hours you could “take” Wakhan but then what?

TTA can mobilize local Badakhshan militias and leverage chinese built roadworks to interdict Pakistani supply lines. Internationally, China and Russia have cautioned against violations of Afghan sovereignty, while Islamabad’s Western partners are weighing sanctions after civilian casualties reported in Kabul.

Even if Pakistani troops garrison the few dozen miles of rocky ridge that separate Wakhan from Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan, there’s zero modern road or rail. You’d be looking at hundreds of millions in mountain tunnels and highways just to move anything more than a handful of containers.

Turning Wakhan into Pakistan’s next Karakoram Highway would be a decade-long, billion-dollar white elephant and that’s assuming all your neighbors say “okay” and don’t demand a cut of the tollbooth.

It would be one thing if on the other side of the corridor were the markets of Western Europe or the Chinese coastal belt. With no disrespect intented to Tajikistan but the Wakhan connects us to one of the poorest parts of Tajikistan that is in itself largely isolated from the rest of Tajikistan (Gorno Badakshan).

The KKH as it exists today already connects us to the larger markets in Central Asia namely Xinjiang and Kazakhstan via Xinjiang. Tajikistan is a small actor even by Central Asian standards.

The gains are simply too low to justify the financial endeavour that would be infrastructure development in the Wakhan.

I won’t say I like what’s going between Afghanistan and our homeland but all my prayers for our Fauj. May Allah give them victory because I know Afghans are exploited by our eastern enemy with the help of some western powers. They couldn’t attack us openly (they saw what happened ti their mig21, SU30 and rafales ) so they are using afghans maybe to distract us while they are preparing some nasty actions on our eastern border. I’m not in Pakistan, I’m old man now so can’t fight on the ground so I can only continue to pray for all Pakistanis brothers and sisters and Pakistan. May Allah protect you all.

A lot of places being attacked in Afghanistan, difficult to make sense of what is happening where.

is this accurate, up to date : https://afghanistan.liveuamap.com/

If it is not, does anyone know if we can help update it? Anyone interacted with this site before?
