Will be retrofitted to current vipers or are we expecting upgrades for the vipers as well??

Unsure, logically a contract for a V upgrade would be announced before the missile package I would imagine but am unsure.

Can the APG-68 in our Vipers even have the range to fully utilise the C-8/D-3?

from c5 to c8. how many f 16 in paf can carry them?

thats a very good number. only professionals know better. may be they have some plans to upgrade with saber aesa plug nplay type
45 MLUs and 18 Block 52s, just unsure of the radars can use them properly

What is range difference between c5 and c8. Should have gone for 9x as well

Hopefully the message was passed that had we been given these missiles prior to Rafale spanking American tech would have been used for said spanking and gotten all the praise

PAF getting either the C8 or D3 AMRAAM!!!!!

Raytheon Co., Tucson, Arizona, was awarded a $41,681,329 firm-fixed-price modification (P00026) to a previously awarded contract (FA8675-23-C-0037) for Advance Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles C8 and D3 variants and the production thereof. Highly likely = C8
Highly unlikely = D3

I am not completely sure of the procedures but I believe C8 is export approved variant and is widely exported. D/3 is approved for select customers, but I don't think there is a particular list for it. I believe C8 requires notifying Congress if sold in large numbers to a single customer whereas D/3 always requires notifying the Congress. That said, as few are already pointing it out, the question is of radar. Maybe @Quwa would weigh in on this.

X could be announced soon.. If they released the C8, getting the X is no issue, and we have the HMDs for it on our Vipers
Exactly. This is very cost effective approach to keep our F-16s relevant. The only issue here is that how jamming resistant APG-68V9 is. Other than that this is very very clever approach. Can you please tell how much of a difference in range would it give?

in the age of pl 15 is c8 still relevant?
Yes. Still a potent threat, especially for the likes of Su-30, MiG-29, and Mirages-2000. Also, there are more F-16s available than J-10Cs or the prospective 36-40 J-35s (unless more J-10s are added to the equation). Speaking from armament perspective only, this should keep Block 18s and MLU relevant for at least 10 to 15 more years.

How would you mount pl-15 on F-16? If you can't then how will you be able to keep 75 F-16s relevant with C8s?
brother i never said mount p l 15 on f 16. what am saying j 10s and pl 15 their range set a new parameter n war. how c8 with f 16 would be relevant

It gives you an added capability and you're not reliant on just a single missiles type limited to two platforms

C8 outmatches anything India has bar the Meteor, and if some Indian reports are true they do not even have Meteor, C8 is great, big upgrade from our C5s
