A2G bomb truck? Doesn't sound useful unless its for TTP.

What stand off weaponry do Pakistani F-16s have? The most I have ever seen is AGM-65 Maverick on the old defpk site. Not sure if that was a photoshop.
Interesting - we talk about F-16 being a bomb truck and suddenly it appears somewhere.

Failure of Institution, lone ranger rising to the top after beating the system for almost 30 years....
like minded people ...after Brig.

Political differences and involvement in POlitics by both parties is the root cause of the example you stated.

PM picking and choosing by ignoring the seniority is the main reason, top Generals get coroupt and involve in politics to please PM and become their chosen onece.

My POV only, which I think is based on common sense, logoc and ground realities....
You can ignore all the above and stick to your POV. Mubarak ho.
No need to get emotional, we're just discussing.

The current system in place says that the incumbent Army Chief on his retirement can suggest a number of Generals that have worked under him to the Prime Minister to choose from.

Now, why does the Army in the first place believe that a number of names should be suggested to the Prime Minister as opposed to Army Chief either not suggesting anyone at all. or top serving Generals choosing one name amongst themselves and forwarding it to the Prime Minister?

Also consider whether the "most senior" is still also the most relevant person to lead the Army in the ever changing times. His views, and health may have changed drastically over 30 years he has served. What if he doesn't like the Prime Minister for personal reasons. An example is the Chief Justice Saqib Nisar during his tenure not getting along with PM Shehbaz Sharif at the time due to a divorce in the family and he kept passing judgements based on his personal emotions.

I find most of these Twitter PakMil accounts to be insufferable.

Act super official but don't have full understanding. Especially when they write in that cringe tone as if they were giving some briefing.

Oh You mean like the current army chief asim munir not liking prime minister Imran khan for person reasons....? Imran khan having removed him from ISI...you mean like that?

Also for your information, saqib nisar was never chief justice during shehbaz sharif tenure.

imagine PAF super hornet-ifying the JF-17
What would that entail vis-a-vis JF-17, exactly? I'm having difficulty imagining a relationship unless you're suggesting repurposing the production line in some way.

The conceptual equivalent of that would be the Gripen C/D to Gripen E/F transition. So, basically, enlarging the airframe and wings, adding a new, higher-output engine, and upgrading the sensor and avionics suite.

The problem is that it'd mean NRE costs and involving AVIC to design what will basically be a near-J-10CE competitor. That, or we take the more difficult route of understanding the JF-17's design and, in turn, carrying out those changes indigenously.

It's something we ought to have done with the Mirage III/5 considering we had MRF, but as we have the JF-17 today, we should build on the capacity (however limited) and make it robust ourselves.

So, basically, we 'reverse engineer' the JF-17, redesign it into a larger and more capable fighter (PFX), and then recreate the entire tooling to manufacture it.

AVIC will not want to waste engineers on this type of project when it can use those same people to carry forward the work on their 6th gen platforms and all their new UCAVS. Highly skilled and trained aviation engineering time is very precious resource, I can't see them wanting to waste it on PFX as there is nothing in it for them. Their value is more to them that their salary/consultancy cost time ..
