Abolish extensions for all service arm chiefs, except for wartime or emergency, and extend position length to 5 years, as that gives enough time for service chiefs to execute their vision and manage any significant projects. Three years may be too short.
3 too short
5 too long
4 is perfect 👌

Yeah 4-5 years may be a sweet spot actually. Any major axcusition takes that much time from planning, to signature to delivery. Always good if the same leader sees the whole process through. Only issue is it means the 3 stars below him may have to stay in place in their positions for same amount if time

Has to be 4 for everyone. Especially corps commands

What is the motivation behind giving these extensions?
So that the civilian dispensation can also enjoy their tenures.
When is the next general elections? 2028?

Absar Alam says that 6 officers objected to CDF post going to Asim. Does anyone have verification? Just knowing the culture of PAF, I knew there will be resistance . The current t CAS is spineless and cannot utter a single sentence but I can imagine the rank and file are not happy with PAF under any army general. I don’t know about today but back in 70s and 80s, paf officers used to think of them as superior to Army officers from an intellectual perspective and overall having officer like qualities. Not sure if that has persisted but I tell you this would not have gone down well back then

Additionally, extend the service retirement date by 3-4 years?

Do we see this extension mania because people are being retired quite young? That they don't have the skills to do anything else on their own? We see a lot of them try and become heads of organisations they have no business being head of, eg SUPARCO ?

Zia appointed his airchief for 8 years. So this is nothing new

Yes but zines President also. Paf never viewed itself under the army and this will not go down well. I knew PAF will resist but our current brass may not have the balls to push back against asim munir who can stop pensions with a stroke of a pen
