Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions

ill take these anyday over the yihas . Yihas had an optical seeker tho , wonder if that can be added on to this .
Really makes you wonder what they were thinking with this, "let's make a cheap ass drone thats essentially a flying pipe bomb, also let's add a optical seeker to it because that totally makes sense to add to cheap saturation drone"

a newly unveiled Turkish Mizrak kamikaze drone with a 1000km range capable of runway/rocket-assisted takeoffs which we might use in the next round... so basically YIHA-III on steroids

Pakistan has to find one good design and start mass producing it locally. Otherwise we'll never be able to afford enough to do real saturation attacks. Totally dumb design, make it simpler than the Shahed 136 if we can't even afford that.

PAF commanders need to feel no shame in expending a hundred just to take out one CCS node. Only then can we guarantee air superiority.

The game changes constantly. Cannot be left behind when your opponent is 7 times your size.

another utterly retarded design by the turks. What are they actually smoking there and why cant rhey produce anything logical
they just want to slap some "AI SWARM" and the usual "EO sensor" to these LMs which makes them expensive and not relevant .

Those talibro drones we saw a month or so back are better than this poc drone. Genuinely don't understand WHY we procured these

While not directly related, this article emphasizes why investment in air power will remain central to the security architecture of nations for years to come.

I post this here because of late, quite a lot of Pakistanis have become enamored with "missile power" as a replacement for a potent air arm. Pakistan needs both but not at the expense of its air power. Missile forces, as good as they may be, cannot replace the flexibility, options and the accuracy/impact of air power.

Israel has given final approval for a multibillion-dollar deal to buy two new combat squadrons of advanced F-35 and F-15IA fighter jets from United States manufacturers Lockheed Martin and Boeing, the Ministry of Defence says.

Israel’s Ministerial Committee on Procurement signed off on the deal as the initial phase of a 350-billion-shekel ($119bn) programme to boost the country’s armed forces and “strengthen readiness ahead of a demanding decade for Israeli security”, it said on Sunday.

“Alongside immediate wartime procurement needs, ‌‌we have a responsibility to act now to secure the [military’s] edge 10 years from now and beyond,” Defence Ministry Director General Amir Baram said.

The continuing US-Israel war on Iran “reinforced just how critical the US-Israel strategic relationship is and how essential advanced air power remains”, he added.

Under the deal, Israel would buy a fourth F-35 squadron from Lockheed Martin and a second squadron of F-15IA fighter jets from Boeing.

In December, Boeing was given an $8.6bn contract for Israel, including 25 new F-15IAs and an option for 25 more.

Baram said the next step would be to move forward with finalising the agreements with the US government and military.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the purchase “reinforces Israel’s overwhelming air superiority – a superiority that was demonstrated in Am KeLavi [12-day war on Iran] and now in Shaagat HaAri [ongoing war in Iran]”.

“Our pilots are prepared to reach anywhere in Iranian airspace if required,” he added.

can u explain why , is it because it will be too expenisve becasue of the sensors , or the landing wheels ??

I posted this elsewhere but perhaps this thread is more appropriate. It looks like the J35 will be with the PAF sooner rather than later, so that begs the question of what the road map looks like for the PAF to 2040-50.

I would say something like the following, just my opinion, but what the PAF will do is anyone's guess;

Vipers - most likely in service until 2040 given the recent sustainment contracts. I can't see any more airframes being inducted, used or new, or any capability enhancements like SABR or AIM120D. The closed and restrictive nature of the platform means limited expansion capability or integration into the wider network of the PAF in my view. The oldest airframes likely to be sunset around 2040.

JF-17 - I can't see any more Block IIIs being acquired. Any further production will probably be for export only. There may be an MLU type upgrade (PFX Alpha?), especially for the Block Is, comprising more indigenous components, but I can't see any further airframes. If the Block Is aren't upgraded, they could be refurbished and sold. I can't see any more airframes being acquired past 2030-35.

J10 - I think more will be acquired to make up for the Mirages and any remaining F7PGs to be retired. I also think strike capability will be added, especially using indigenous weapons like AZB series, Rasoob, Taimoor etc. Total numbers maybe around 100 by 2030-35

PFX Alpha/Azm/PFX - This is complete vaporware at the moment, but I think the PAF may still want a single engined fifth gen fighter, developed using a similar approach to the JF17, i.e. close collaboration with a Chinese partner and produced in Pakistan, maybe using the same engine as the J35 for commonality. In my view, this should be ditched, and instead focus on a loyal wingman type of project instead of a single engined fifth gen platform. This could start appearing around 2040 by the time the Vipers start drawing down.
