How did they manage to put 100km range weapon on airbase that sits 200km inland?

I ask again, how did they manage to put a 100km range weapon on an airbase that sit 200km inland?

It wasn’t their weapon - but it did get through via saturation.

It was most likely a storm shadow missile for it to have had that kind of precision.

That's too big and too deep a hole to be caused by storm shadow in my opinion. The radius is readily ascertainable by the image. The depth can be inferred from the hole in Rahim Yar Khan.

It's not unusual for real ranges to be longer than stated ranges or for evolution form of weapons to not be revealed. Could still be that.

Don't think so. PAF is a professional force. Individual influences are minimal.
I think Paracha was a die hard f16 pilot and very pro America because of extensive training in the US. He was also the air attaché in Washington for 2 years. My feeling is that he would have pushed for upgrading f16s rather than go for j10c. Either way PAF will have come out on top. I think he was side lined precisely because he was an f16 pilot ..if you noticed the past 4 air chiefs have been mirage pilots

Has Piracha been the CAS would the outcome be different ?
In past times the answer would have been 'no', but since this conflict was won by systems that have not only been inducted but also contracted under the tenure of the current chief, this unprecedented event suggests the outcome could have indeed been different under different leadership.

Could be a unitary warhead Brahmos

From user @tphuang on Sino Defence Forum, wanted to post it here because I think it would have some value:

"I'm going to write up something on this and I will probably do a podcast on it too.

But there are real issues that Pakistani needs to fix up for the future.

Again, Pakistan military performed pretty well, so this is not intended to be critical of them, but rather things that they need to address going forward.

Just due to the resource disparity between the two sides, India will have more missiles and suicide drones at disposal to attack Pakistani targets than vice versa. As such, Pakistan needs to be very conscious about what it can protect and how it protects them.

For starters, on air defense side of things, it would appear to me their drone defense is pretty effective, since many Harops were shot down. Not sure if they were using laser defense or something else. But there are some serious low cost counter drone weaponry that China can sell them that should allow this to continue to happen.

Secondly, Pakistani military badly needs to improve its air defense around military sites & other critical facilities. Not with HQ-9 or HQ-16, but rather stuff like HQ-17. Have them in more places, so they can be used to defend against faster missiles like Brahmos or something like SCALP.
HQ-9's role needs to be against ballistic missiles and aircraft.

Pakistani needs to make it a policy of always having an AWACS in the air, so that incoming missile attacks can be tracked and shared with air defense. I don't really know what they have in place right now, but attack on military bases needs to be defended.

It's not like India has endless missiles. They only fired off 15 and some of them hit targets clearly.

Now aside from that, there does seem to be a problem with attacking Indian targets. They clearly made an attempt to attack S-400 and Brahmos depot. All logical moves. It's unclear to me how successful they truly were.

But they basically need to get better at several areas at least, this is minimal list:
1) to protect attack aircraft with escorts that can shoot down IAF interceptors from far out.
2) deliver multi-axis attack.
3) apply heavy EW pressure on defending target

I'm not sure they are able to achieve it with the current lineup of aircraft that they have. But first, I think this is where J-35 may provide them with a window of opportunity. It would theoretically provide them with the capability of both neutralizing intercepting IAF aircraft as well as threatening S-400 SAMs. Maybe this is also an area where PAF can increase its training with PLAAF on SEAD missions. It's certainly going to be far easier to do SEAD if you are able to be on winning end in air to air portion, preferably if you can get closer to Indian air space or even entering it. It's only if you can disable S-400, then you can really go after Indian air fields, Brahmos depot and such.

Longer term, Pakistan feels a huge threat from India in terms of control over Indus River. Only by showing it can extract serious cost on India, will that deter India from going down that route."

So looks like we can all agree now on both sides that :

1) balakot strike did not hit its target
2) no f16 lost…abhinandan should not have been given any medal . His silence during sindhoor says it all
3) no su30 lost otherwise a wreckage photo will have appeared on social media . Paf pilot should not have been given a TJ

Even Indian media are agreeing in 1 and 2 ..So truth does eventually come out

You're stuck on balakot. We've moved on
