A Pakistani delegation led by Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Sarfraz, Deputy Chief of Air Staff for Projects, has arrived in Mogadishu and was received by Somali Air Force Commander Brigadier General Abdirizak Mahmoud Haji.
According to Somalia’s Ministry of Defence, discussions will focus on closer cooperation between the two air forces, air defence, capacity building, and professional training.
Somalia–Pakistan military cooperation has expanded significantly this year, particularly following Israel’s recognition of part of Somali territory as an independent state. The relationship took a more formal shape in August 2026, when a high-level Somali defence delegation visited Pakistan and the two countries signed an MoU on defence and security cooperation.
During that visit, the Somali delegation also met Pakistan’s senior military leadership, including the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force. Air force discussions focused on rebuilding and modernizing the Somali Air Force through pilot and technical training, institutional development, and stronger operational capabilities.
The latest visit to Mogadishu marks another step toward putting that cooperation into practice.
