It goes without saying that these young men and women who passed out today have a very heavy burden placed upon their shoulders. Not only will they be subjected to unprecedented levels of violence, but they are also all looked upon as guilty by some quarters given the current political landscape (you can see in the comments by the usual quarters on the ISPR page).

The burden is real and is not without precedent with the sins of the previous passing out parade holders who continue to practice their cultural and moral rot they bring in despite the ideals in this and other academies.

A Gen who leads the FWO and somehow has acquired multiple ill gotten land cruisers passed out of this academy, so is a commandant of a CMH one who rigs contracts for millions in his own pockets with crony subedars along with him.. and calls Quaid e Azam "Fatimah ka Bhai".

So either the academy is a failed institution or it is not able to make these young men and women actually understand the responsibility they could undertake.

The consistent line is "we make the supreme sacrifice" - great - the probability of that occurring is 1.77%(thanks to conditions also created by those who have passed out from those grounds) - you were not conscripted for it and until that 1 in 56 chance comes through - you are in a role where otherwise you enjoy great perks and privileges in what at the end of the day is a way to earn a livelihood.

Speaking of the 98% that are not the military- the chance that of those simply heading to earn a livelihood - that rate is 1.64% for those under or just above the poverty line.
Which means the death rate for people NOT IN A PROFESSION WHERE THERE IS A DISCLOSURE OF PEOPLE LOOKING TO HARM YOU - is nearly the same.

So yes, they do need to carry that guilt because those before them have directly created or at least contributed to it.

So congratulations and I hope you don't abuse your position.

Why not hold the politicians of the past and their predecessors to the same standard? That aside, I do agree that the oath taken clearly demarcates military from political and prohibits getting involved in the latter.

This is the other part of the card that I say to PTI supporters or otherwise.
What is the assumption that they are ALSO NOT HELD to the same standards based on their contribution to the mess.

However, because the general culture in Pakistan which also prevails in the military happens to be "I did not say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you" - and if the intention is to blame then the one with actual capacity to wield power and tools for it can do the blame game more and cop out when it is their turn for accountablity.

The result then is the weaker ones consistently lean on victim complex and absolve themselves of any responsibility - so you get the oppressed and oppressor narrative with nothing except either failed or destructive revolutionary cycles.

When the reality is "We have seen the enemy, and they are us".

Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has said the armed forces will continue the counterterrorism campaign against Indian-sponsored terrorist groups “to the fullest”, vowing to “hit them hard wherever they are”, the military’s media wing said on Friday.

CDF Munir made the remarks during a visit to the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar, where he was briefed on the security situation, ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management measures and the operational preparedness of formations deployed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Upon arrival at the headquarters, CDF Munir was received by the Peshawar Corps commander.

During his visit, he lauded the morale and professionalism of the armed forces and directed them to maintain “vigilance and the highest standards of operational readiness to effectively counter threats”.

ISPR added that CDF Munir vowed that the armed forces would “continue the campaign against Indian-sponsored terrorist outfits to the fullest and hit them hard wherever they are”.

He also paid tribute to the martyred security personnel, affirming that “with the support of the people, Pakistan will surely inflict total defeat on the terrorists and their perverted ideology”.
