Pakistan Army | News and Discussions

Among the three new promotions to Lt. Gen

1. Major General Ahmed Sharif. The "duffers" label given to these stupid Pakistani army generals proves to come up all the time.

2. Major General Umar Bukhari 22 Baloch, 84 Long Course, VCGS A, considered professionally competent, but like all others, spineless.

3. Major General Inayat Hussain, VCGS, B, 2 FF, 84 Long Course,

Those directly responsible for the 2014 massacre of APS school children, failed to provide security when, as a brigade commander, he was responsible for providing security to them.

Why this happened we still do not know.

And even more tragic was his failure to respond in time to the carnage, so that precious lives could be saved. So

1. Duffer.
2 spineless professionals
3. Child killer.

This is "our army".

Peshawar, Mangla corps commanders appointed

Baqir Sajjad Syed
May 11, 2024

ISLAMABAD: In the latest military reshuffle, new corps commanders have been appointed for the Peshawar and Mangla Corps.

Maj Gen Omer Bukhari on his promotion as a three-star (lieutenant) general was appointed as the commander of the Peshawar-based XI Corps. He would replace Lt-Gen Hassan Azhar Hayat Khan, who will be retiring later this month.

Gen Khan had been serving as Peshawar Corps Commander since Aug 2022 and his tenure was supposed to end in November. However, upon achieving the age of superannuation, he will be retiring on May 16.

Interestingly, the new posting became public a day after Commander of United States CENTCOM Gen Michael Kurilla visited several locations in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bordering Afghanistan for discussing counterterrorism operations in those regions.

Together the two developments indicate a renewed focus on countering militancy in the province.

Gen Bukhari, the new commander in Peshawar, was previously serving as vice chief of general staff (alpha) at the General Headquarters.

The appointment of a new corps commander in Peshawar may also lead to changes in the delicate relationship between the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the military leadership there.

In another significant change, Chief of Logistics Staff Lt Gen Nauman Zakria was a few days back posted as the commander of Mangla Corps.

The position had been vacant since Lt Gen Ayman Bilal Safdar opted for early retirement under unclear circumstances.

During a recent media conference, Maj Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, director general ISPR, addressed a question about General Safdar’s early retirement. He explained, “Self-accountability in the military is a stringent and challenging yet transparent process. It operates automatically and is always active. Whenever there is a breach of regulations, corruption, or a disciplinary issue, the accountability process is triggered. We maintain a robust internal accountability system that functions continuously across various domains.”

Meanwhile, at the CLS secretariat Gen Zakria was replaced by another newly promoted officer Lt Gen Inayat Hussain. Gen Hussain was as major general serving as vice chief of general staff (bravo).

DG ISPR Maj Gen Ahmad Sharif was promoted to the rank of a lieutenant general and retained at ISPR for the time being. Gen Sharif belongs to the Corps of Electrical & Mechanical Engineers and very few officers from EME have made it to three-star rank.

Gen Ziauddin Butt, constitutional ex COAS was also from the EME FYI. But since mahatma is no longer in power every state official must be despised.

1- You are giving the example of Ziauddin Butt, elevated to COAS for a couple of hours by Nawaz Sharif just to piss off Musharraf. Do you see how flimsy your argument is? The PM could make an AMC General the COAS, does not make it right or logical. Actually, on second though, it is a completely fair example. Ziauddin was made Lt Gen just on personal whims, and so is this guy.

2- There have been EME Lt Generals before, but that's not the norm, and it's an exception. I think there have only been 5/6 Lt Generals if I am not wrong, and especially none from Aviation EME. There's much more capable Maj Gens of EME that got superseded, just because there is no room for an EME Lt Gen. But just because in mausoof ko nawazna tha, to is liay Lt Gen bana dia. Pak Army truly has turned into Punjab Police now.

3- What TF does Imran Khan have anything to do with this? To hell with him for all I care.

In a normal functioning counry - the appointments of such low-grade officers is not news worthy and quite irrelevent - this further hights the disfunction in Pakistan, where there is no civilian rule and no order of precedence that follows the correct hiearchical structure of an elected functioning goverment ...

The centrality of any country should never be the matric-fail clowns in their shiny spit polished boots - it should be the elected goverment and the rule of law ... both of the latter items, the boot polishers in Pakistan have undermined so that they maintain their centrality ... that undermining has economically doomed pakistan to bankrupcy.

Hell - in most countries - no one can even name the equivalent of the COAS .. I dont know who the UK one is - i would have to google it as i type and that is how it should be ....
