Zhuhai is probably the best place to spend big on showing off the JF-17. Many of the potential customers from Africa will be there as purchases of Chinese made arms have increased a lot in recent years, and as joint venture will attract much attention.
My only suggestions would be to make the jet as able to do a quick turn around like the Gripen, make software upgrades like the Gripen (separating flight critical software from weapons and EW library integration software), and have the ability to land better on unprepared roadways (a modern day “bush plane” fighter jet). Angola, which borders the DRC, where there is much instability, would want a potent multi role fighter that can be deployed anywhere and turned around quickly.
Chinese making moves in francophone Africa particularly.
