I don't believe any PM has completed 5 years of his tenure, that is crazy.

Barring ZAB. And the whole thing boils down to the insecurity of the COAS- that he holds the post at the pleasure of the President (indirectly the PM and Parliament). Once the COAS knows that he is secure, he would have little interest in toppling the political executive.

Noone dares to mess with the COAS, if he wants extension he will get it, alot is propaganda by the politicians. The armed forces make long term policies, and we get some PMs and governments who try to sabotage everything. Nawaz Sharif also had big differences and was removed, Benazir the same, and now Imran Khan. The current situation was blamed on Gen Bajwa but he didnt seek 2nd extension and the next General continued the same policy, this tells us it's the continues of the same policy unless the new younger generals change it themselves. If Pakistan was ruled by one man COAS then no doubt we be 100 worse situation, full of incompetence.

Egypt is under the same system and is doing well economically, China is also highly centralised, India which gained independence from Britain the same time as us never had a military coup, many people say its because of professionalism, or because Indians are democratic, and constitution forbids it, one person mentioned its because Indian political leadership dealt with the military in a way where they were happy with the powers given to them, so everyone agreed to do their duties and this is the main reason no coup take place since they have no reason for it. However disputes and propaganda took place many times, in 2012 BBC UK news was reported it aswell but they always find ways to find a solution. With Pakistan army and civilian government have disputes for months, but both sides don't back off and this is when military decides to use force, so it's not an overnight plan.

Even now all political parties, politicians can sit with the military and sort this out, move forward together. Many politicians have been saying this for years that we need to sit with the military, settle on what powers they want, and sort it out, give and take and move forward. This is what is been done right now.

The 27th Const. Amendment is essentially to give a Const. cover to something like what Imran was envisioning in late 2021 while working with some top Generals. The idea was not bad then nor bad now, in theory at least: Political stability and continuation of policies for at least ten years. Even Imran, as the PM, had major issues with the 18th Amendment which gave away too much Federal power to the Provinces. In the ongoing discussions, the PPP, grown used to the large sums of money given to Sindh, is resisting giving away the largesse which they blow away in corruption in Sindh.
But let's understand and appreciate what we have now: It is a 'Hybrid' system where the military is more dominant then ever since Zia's National Assembly of the 80s. What the Pakistanis are trying to do is to stabilize and grow the the economy, make the defense stronger, and ready to face India again and that war may come any time! The 27 Const. Amendment is a long term plan and I actually cautiously welcome it!

I try to compare it to Pakistan.
I went to Egypt for 1 month last year, they built many new cities and are building many more, people use electricity, AC, gas for one month and pay 60 dollars bill, in Pakistan it would be easily 300 dollars, the food prices are not bad. 109M population and economy is 349B, growth 4.27 2025, Pakistan is 256M population, economy 410B, growth 2.6% 2025.
