Pakistan Constitutional Amendments:

dude lets face it is not good , a lot of people saying that Asim will only retain the position in name only and he will retire when the time comes ( i hope ) . i also hope paf still has its freedom after this amendment passes

Dude lets face it. Punjab/Karachi shift to anti-establishment vote in 2024 have spooked them. And Imrandu is fascist Taliban apologist. If stupid people in punjab/karachi again vote for him in 2029 and he become PM then next day he will handover large parts of Pakistan to afghan Taliban. Put every opponent in jail.

With few more amendments Imran Khan would be rendered useless as PM. Thats when they will release him under certain conditions.

So the Constitution is being bent, twisted, mutilated and trampled on just because the clueless Jurnails are terrified of one man?.... who happens to be massively popular with the public, and whose possible return to power gives his rivals sleepless nights?

And the excuse is that all this is necessary to "save the country" from him because he’d supposedly burn it down? Yet, in this very attempt to "protect" Pakistan, the Army backed by the Sharifs, Bhuttos and the Maulanas is actually setting the country on fire itself...!!??

Laws are there to be amended. They are making sure future PM will be ceremonial post without 2/3 majority. So in case establishment remain anti-PTI and they still want to have fair elections, Pakistan integrity and sovereignty isnt threatened even if Taliban afghandu ass kisser apologist become PM.

After few years of another corrupt tenure with likes of pinky pirni witch/buzdar, PTI will loss popularity in punjab if allowed to complete term.

Unnecessary Criticism on 27th Constitutional Amendment

🟥 The amendment is about modernisation and clarity, not concentration of power.

🔸Purpose of the Amendment

▪️27th Amendment aims to modernise defence management in line with global military models.

▪️Seeks to eliminate duplication and improve strategic coordination.

▪️Reflects changing character of warfare — hybrid, multidomain, rapid decision cycles.

🟥 Abolition of CJCSC / Creation of CDF

▪️CJCSC post has been ceremonial and ineffective for decades

▪️CDF creates unity of command and clear accountability.

▪️It’s not “institutional capture” — it’s institutional clarity.

▪️Army, Navy, and Air Force retain operational autonomy in respective domains.

▪️Purpose: ensure coordinated response in crisis, reduce bureaucratic overlaps.

🟥 National Strategic Command / Nuclear Control

▪️NCA (National Command Authority) remains unchanged and civilian-led.

▪️Commander of National Strategic Command = operational custodian only, not policy authority.

▪️Appointment by Prime Minister ensures civilian supremacy.

▪️SPD has always been army-led — this only codifies existing practice.

▪️No change in nuclear control or chain of command.

🟥 Promotions and Autonomy of Services

▪️Each service chief retains full control over promotions, postings, and administration.

▪️CDF role = strategic integration, not personnel management.

▪️Claims about morale or loss of autonomy are misleading.

🟥 Five-Star Rank and Immunities

▪️Five-star rank is honorary and exceptional, not perpetual authority.

▪️Provided for ceremonial recognition during extraordinary national circumstances.

▪️Still subject to constitutional discipline (e.g., Article 47).

🟥 Civil-Military Balance

▪️Prime Minister remains appointing authority for all service chiefs and CDF.

▪️Civilian command under Article 243 remains fully intact.

▪️The amendment formalises existing practices — doesn’t alter balance of power.

▪️Improves efficiency and responsiveness, not political dominance.

🟥 Broader Perspective

▪️Reform aligns Pakistan with modern defence structures (e.g., UK, US, India).

▪️Ensures jointness, speed, and strategic coherence.

▪️Part of a larger review — potential updates to Army Act and NCA laws for coherence.

▪️Avoids ambiguity that has long existed in command arrangements.

🟥 On Political Criticism

▪️Critics’ political affiliation (PTI) should be noted — both have oppositional agendas.

▪️Their framing of the issue is deliberately alarmist and detached from facts.

▪️Constructive debate welcome — but misrepresentation harms institutional stability.

▪️The amendment modernises defence clarity.

▪️Designed for efficiency, coordination, and accountability, not power centralisation.

▪️Political noise aside, the focus is on national security modernisation, not personalities.

The standing committees on law and justice of both houses of Parliament convened a joint session on Sunday to further discuss the proposed bill for the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

Yesterday, the bill for Constitution (Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Act, 2025 was tabled before the Senate hours after it was approved by the federal cabinet, triggering noisy protests from the opposition over the pace and scope of the proposed changes.

The bill proposes the creation of a Federal Constitutional Court (FCC), changes to the appointment process for high court judges, a higher cap on provincial cabinets, and changes to the military leadership structure.

Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice Chairperson Senator Farooq H. Naek and his counterpart for the National Assembly panel, MNA Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, are co-chairing today’s meeting.

The standing committees are also likely to finalise the mechanism for the transfer of high court judges through the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) — a process which may not require the consent of the judges being transferred.

The panels cleared nearly 80 per cent of the proposed bill yesterday in a joint in-camera meeting, including most clauses of the judicial reforms package.

But deliberations on the field marshal’s status under Article 243 (command of the armed forces) of the Constitution were deferred to today.
