Pakistan GDP - News & Updates and Discussions

Are you serious ? Just read the very first post of this thread. Things dont happen in isolation. There are always context to things.

If they were blaming PTI government for bad debt to gap ratio in 2024, why cant we ask them why is it still bad in 2025 ?

Anti national kay certificates bhaantna band kardo or kuch dhang ka Karo zindagi me.

No, the point is a certain group are actively rooting for Pakistan to fall because their man is not in power.

Are you sure you said a "certain group" and not "PTI folks" ? When you generalize, we have a problem.

Pakistan wellwisher can be in PTI/PMLN or any other party. Similarly it's bad wisher can be of any party, any ethnicity, and any province. But the whole party, or whole ethnicity, or whole province can never be bad wisher of Pakistan. You are part of the problem sir.

I find it incredible that PTI folks are actively rooting for Pakistan to fall/default just to score political points.

Yes, it is PTI folks at this time. They can come from any background but yes, certain group predominates.

It will end when all sides accept the red lines and their roles, the people also want development, peace, enough of the toxic politics, the fake propaganda. Slowly we will see stability and progress.

Which redline Bhutto crossed ? Bangladesh doesn't count because he was removed a lot of time after that. Than what redline IK crossed ? What redline Benazir button crossed ?

I can understand Nawaz sharif. Panama and all. But what about the others ?

And tell me this . Only political ruling class cross redlines ? Military leadership dont ? Didn't Musharaf crossed a redline when he did coup ? Ayub , yahya, zia ? ???

See , if some of the parties lost their governments to military coups then I would have understood that the problem is with political parties. But if all of the parties have their governments removed by military leadership then the problem is not with political parties but the scientists doing experiments.

Pakistani political class is ready to see a COAS spend 6 years in his position (3 years more than his sanctioned tenure). And we habe seen examples of that. But military leadership is not ready to see a single PM complete his 5 year constitutional rule. Tell you about who is short tempered.

The remarkable thing here is that fixing this issue doesn't have to be difficult, not at all. It literally just takes leaders who are focused on national interests and some basic common sense.

For example, we have China that imports oil and gas, and it wants to build an alternative route to the Straits of Malacca (in case the US puts pressure there).

So, all we had to do with CPEC was orient as an energy corridor - i.e., a port to receive crude, refineries to make product, rail lines and roads to transport product. Just build all that on loans from China, and then require China to pay a toll fee every year (given the debt accrued to build that infrastructure, they'd be toll-free for some years, and then eventually, Pakistan will get income).
You can be bolder.

Establish an energy pipeline from Middle Eastern countries to China. Then set up trade routes for Chinese products to Middle Eastern countries and Europe.

If this trade route is opened, a large number of companies, in order to reduce tariffs and costs, will choose to establish companies in Pakistan. Products from Pakistan can be transported to China, the Middle East, and Europe in a short time. Moreover, products entirely produced in Pakistan can be shipped to China duty-free, while other products are subject to low tariffs. China is the world's second-largest consumer country, which is a very attractive condition for capital.

Take the China-Europe Railway Express as an example. Countries along the route can obtain transit fees, trade and investment opportunities, industrial development, employment opportunities, and tax revenue. In 2023, the fee for each consolidated container transiting Russia was 1,200 USD, and other fees, including handling and detention fees, also need to be paid. Just from transit fees alone, Russia can earn 1.8 billion USD annually.

This is one of the functions of the CPEC. Unfortunately, this project's progress is too slow.

Out dated data, Pakistan per capita is closer to $2000 and India $2600 in FY2025-26. Indian rupee have tanked quite badly. Bangladesh GDP never made sense, its electricity consumption is half of Pakistan. Tax collection 30-40% less.

So BD GDP too need to be updated on international standards in next rebasing.

Interesting I see - do we have accurate data? How do you know all of these specific numbers? The one I posted is from World Bank.

World Bank is using 2023 figures for Pakistan and IMF estimates for 2026-27 for India. That doesn't make any sense.

In reality India per capita for 2025-26 is closer to $2600. Pakistan per capita $1812 in 2024-25 so is closer to $2000 for $2025-26.

Thanks man for clarifications! I hope we will continue to improve it every year.
