Economies of scale come into picture here. Who has the bigger economy? Who can set up manufacturing units faster?

And technically Russia and India are fast partners in defence tech, Brahmos was a collaboration after all.

I meant all these factors by strategic depth in my og comment.

I don't understand the comparison here.

We were talking in context of Pakistan and India, you stated Pakistan would benefit from Chinese manufacturing. My comment was in context of "yes you will benefit but how much will you be able to buy en masse from them". I don't understand how the current manufacturing capacities of Russia and India vs China is relevant here.
We are talking about affording weapons, wartime manufacturing i.e. economies of scale and TOT here

In times of war you can't rely on a foreign power to ship you spare parts and readymade weapons. Thus you'll need TOT and inhouse production.

To some extent yes, but india would not be able to devastate Pakistan as much as what russia has done to ukraine and Pakistan would be able to inflict massive unacceptable damage to the indian mainland.
